2010 GT500 suspension

Hi, I was wondering that since the new GT500 had live rear suspension, is it possible to modify it to an independant rear suspension? I definitely think its worth the extra money and I think ford should have done that in the first place. Anyway, I just wanted to know if it is possible and if so, what would be the approximate cost, and such. And another thing, does the 2010 roush mustang have independant rear suspension? If so would it be possible to get their suspension on a 2010 shelby, forming a cool hybrid? Thanks guys. :peelout:

The Roush does not have IRS. This issue was fleshed out in the early days of the 2005 and up Mustangs. It was a cost + weight issue. Partcularly on the GT500, weight was a consideration given that the car, because of the monster motor, was already a bit heavy. I recall a thread that led to an after market company that, I think, offered IRS for the modern Mustangs but I cannot put my finger on it now.

Are you interested in IRS to address a particular performance issue or because you think the car should have it to be complete in the general sense (which is a legit reason in my book)?

Thanks for the reply,

Yeah I think the car should have it to be complete in the general sense. But yeah I mean if anybody makes one, I would be ready to check it out. The price doesn't really matter (unless its a crazy price) and weight wise, (correct me if Im wrong) having some weight in the back would be good since all the weight is in the front. And I would probably shave off some pounds as well (racing seats, lighter exhaust, lighter rims, etc.) It bothers me to think of live rear suspension. It seems primitive.

If you want an ultimate suspension go with a Griggs Racing suspension system. They will replace the live axle with a Watts Link, it also includes Koni Coilovers. You won't find a more solid option on the market.

Is it that one? Does it work with the 2010? Does the Watts Link act like a IRS or do both wheels still do the same thing?
