FRPP HP Upgrade

Guys: I was planning on doing the new 2010 750 HP upgrade, and spoke to a Ford Racing rep to order it today. He all but begged me to stay with the 650, says "for sure" the 750 will destroy the motor and soon if I do anything but let it sit in the garage. Mine isn't going to the dragstrip but its not a garage queen either, I plan on driving it and as hard as one can get away with around town. The 650 is the smaller whipple, so its not like I can change my mind later, since I'd need a complete new blower again. His final point was that even at 650 HP with street tires it won't hook up at all, with so why trash your motor (and give up your warranty) at 750 HP when you can't use the horsepower anyway.

He may just be conservative, so will you guys that know weigh in. I have read a few posts from guys with the KB that they are doing engine rebuilds already, and I'd rather not get into that yet with a 2010 car.

Thanks for the advice.

The 650 isn't a Whipple, it's an Eaton TVS. If you have a PERFECT tune and never rev past 6,000 RPM, the 750 kit can hold. One mistake and you're done though. The problem with the GT500 is the longer stroke and piston speed because of this. It kills rods. RPM is the GT500's enemy, not so much the 750HP.

For what it's worth, I have the 600+ H.P. SS and I can barely hook up with that. I have to feather the throttle in an attempt to keep the tires from burning. The 725 H.P. guys have an almost impossible time trying to hook up.

I recommend that you add this data to your decision making process too.

In a follow up to my comments above, here's a good example of why sometimes less is better than more...

Does anyone know if the AdvanceTrac stability control system (or any of its modes) effected or modified with the installation of either of these superchargers? If so, in what way?

The traction control tuning was not recalibrated in the past and I don't know if most tuners could effectively mess with these parameters without a lot of testing with the associated cost being passed on to the customer.

I would not be scared of the 750hp kit at all. I just purchased the 1100hp kennebell kit from EVO as a matter of fact. The same blower as the supersnake with a better tune IMO. Unless you are planning on really beating on the car I think you will be fine. There are tons of Kenne Bell GT500s and Cobras running around making big hp with no problems....other that rear tire life.
