I was surfing on Ls1 forum, because I was looking for a post regarding a race with a GT500 and I came across this.

I have a 2001 Formula, but unfortunately work at a Ford dealership, (used to do sales actually, now i sell their bits and pieces in the parts dept (good money)). The 07 Mustang GT pumps out 300hp on the motor. However in January there will be the release of the Shelby Mustang GT. It will have 325hp, gained through a c.a.i. and tune from the factory. And the Shelby GT500, puts out 500hp, and is somewhat impressive (had to deliver it to a local doctor's retirement party) I ran the hell out of it, and wasn't really impressed by it's acceleration until it hit about 4500rpm, it had very little low end IMO

If this was the guy delivering my car, I would have his head.

Also what a dumba$$, the car is detuned for the 1st 500 miles and 50 key cycles.

Also check out this other post by him "If you get 4.10s installed properly, and maintain the rear end, i change my rear lube now with every oil change every 3-5k mi depending on how hard i am on the car" :redcard:

BTW it was just posted Monday.

That is a shame. Where does everyone keep getting the 500 mile number from? The owners manual says 5 miles or 50 key cycles? My mechanic told me 500 also and I had to show him the manual! I definitely had full boost between 5-10 miles!! :shift:

Same here .. when I hit about 14 miles the boost came on ... so I to have never heard the "500 mile rule". Think its a mis read in the owners manual.

On a side bar .. guess I need to read my owners manual ... that dam shift light .. the amber one on the left side .. goes on .. seems alot .. way too much. Anyone else have this issue .. wont call it a problem as of yet. And talking about issue ... another one is the dam radio ... I hear a humming noise coming from the speakers at no volumne. I checked out another Shaker 500 car ... and it does the same thing .. so it must be normal.

This is EXACTLY why I likely will not use my Ford dealer for service.

There's an independent place close by that I've used occasionally for my other vehicles...friendly, fair price, good work, etc. I was talking with them about servicing my GT500 (...uh, once it finally gets here...) and the owner said for that type of car he'd assign one person to work on it until it's finished and I'm welcome to watch the entire time. I don't think I can get that at the local Ford dealer...

I just ignore those shift arrows on the left. They are shift points for best fuel economy and I'm not thinking good gas milage is a trait of this car! :)

I willnot leave my car for service .When it is bring serviced i willbe present.

Since I work for a Ford dealership ... most service writers know about this car and more importantly how anal us owners are.

1) What I would do is to walk around the car with the service advisor and point out that the car is flawless and u expect it back the same way.

2) Generally most service writers will put their best tech on this car .. just the right thing to do but there is nothing wrong in asking for this either

3)most stores will wash the car for u when done .. not a good idea .. generally a 18 year old kid with pimples .... make sure its not washed and make sure its adhered too. Just dont take the word of the service advisor ... make sure it doesnt get back to the car wash area. I could easily see that happening.

4) and lasllty ... never ever let quick lane touch your car with your direct supervision and make sure the proper filter is on and the proper oil is added with the proper amount. Make sure the oil cap is back on snug ... and that the filter is tightened correctly ..

Trust me on # 4 ..... ive seen it all

Related to the comment about the GT500 having no low end, I read in the recent Road and Track article that the Mustang GT (it was a CS, but that shouldn't matter) and the GT500 have nearly identical 0-30 times. It wasn't until 40 MPH that the GT500 started to pull away. Here are the numbers:

...........GT/CS--->GT500

0-10 = .4---------->.5

0-20 = 1.2------>1.2

0-30 = 1.9------>1.9

0-40 = 2.7------>2.6

0-50 = 4.1------>3.7

0-60 = 5.3------>4.6

0-70 = 7.2------>5.6

0-80 = 8.9------>6.7

etc.

So the moral of the story is..if you get in a race with a Mustang GT, don't sweat the first couple seconds.

Edit: Pardon the numbers not lining up, I don't know an easy way to use tabs in this editor.

...I also get the hum thru my Shaker 500. I was going to ask if anyone else had noticed the problem and was planning on taking it back to the dealership for service. I'm going to start a new topic and see if anyone has heard about a fix, because it is annoying.

Your right it says 5 consecutive miles or 50 key cycles. My friends GT500 took alot longer before it would make full boost as compared to my car. I think there was something up with his calibration code, his car would not make over 6 pounds of boost for a long time.

But aside from that, the thing that kills me is that a dealership owner or a general manager would send the GT500 with a 20 year old guy from the parts department. Not to mention he drives hot rodded WS6 to work, that he also takes to the local dragstrip. When I say 20, I mean 20, the guy just turned 21 2 weeks ago.

Most dealers won't let you touch a GT500 until the funds have been verified. And this dealer sends out a car with that guy, when they more than likely cannot replace it, if it is damaged. It's not like wiping out some car they have ten more of, waiting to be sold.

The owner of the dealership I bought my car from told me that only he drove the car and I believed him after the serious way they took my sale.

His own words:

And who would send out the hottest new mucle car with this guy??? In reality it is managements fault not his. It's like asking a fox to guard the hen house.
