OneTrickPony
When I turn on my HID Head Lights they will come on bright then dim just a little bit then you can see them slowly get brighter and brighter. Is this normal? It takes about 15 to 20 seconds give or take before they are at full brightness. I realize they have some kind of ballast or whatever it is called on each light. Burning Blue Star IV
Hi OneTrickPony - Mine does the exact same thing...so I think we are okay. I would assume that's just the way HID's are.

Baby Gorilla
I have have/had three different cars with HIDs. That's how they all work.
Son of GT
Yes, it's normal. The capsules (bulbs) are filled with charged gas (like a Plasma TV), and need a few moments to "warm" up when ignited by the ballasts.
SmellSoGood
Yes. My HIDs are autoleveling on the 2002 Audi. They get brighter and adjust to the angle of the car up/down. You can see the beam move on power-up.
