SGT kills Vette

Pulled up next to a late model Corvette convertible at the traffic light in Bethesda, MD on Wisconson Avenue going north early this evening. :P

We both had our tops down and I looked over at the guy and grinned. We both jumped on it and I beat him bad by several car lengths in my auto, stock SGT vert. I don't know if he got scared or just didn't know how to drive cause that thing surely has close to 400 hp if I am not mistaken.

I had some kid in a Mercedes do the same thing the other day but it was a tie before we both ran up on the next set of traffic.

I dunno guys.

My wife's boss drove our car after we did the gear swap and before the custom tune and he said take-off and entrance ramp to exit ramp was every bit as fast as his 'Vette. He had a 2005(?) 'Vette which his now ex-wife drove. Very pretty car. He was pretty impressed with the handling of the SGT.

Naturally with 4.10's it will feel a lot faster than a stock SGT but depending on what is ment by "late model", I can see taking a base model 'Vette on a jump. After all they are built more for top end.

Of course this is all supposition. I have not and probably will not ever drive a 'Vette. They do nothing for me.

I don't know. Vettes are the real thing. After all, they are American! They ARE fast!

I had a friend in my car going to lunch one day, pre-SC. He owns a 07 LS3 w/ Z51. I was on a freeway interchange (4 to 680 in Concord, ca), I put her up to what I'd cal 95% on the 270 degree cloverleaf. At @ 90mph, the k-rail right outside his window was a blur! He was hanging on and said, "My Vette won't do that." I said, "If it wasn't for your 240lbs, I'd go faster"!

That was stock, the SC is even more impressive. :happy feet:

I'm pretty sure a c5 vette can do 13.5 in the quarter mile and the c6 vette will do 12's

My dad has had both and I know when my SGT was stock it would have been neck and neck with the c5 but the c6 would have beat the stock SGT now that I have a whipple 550 it will smoke any stock c6 and certainly smoke any c5

The c-6 should have 430hp. With that much h.p. you should no way beat it with a stock Shelby motor and gears but stranger things have happened. Change to 410's and a good tune and you will see a lot of difference. I believe you and the vette will then go neck and neck. The biggest difference then would be is that the Shelby is much more fun to drive and has much better handling. There's always going to be cars faster but nothing replaces the fun of driving a Shelby and the attention they get.

i think all you guys are dreaming theres no way a stock gt is going to beat a c5 corvette i have both and took them to the track he c5 corvette 13.2 the shelby 14.1 you can tell your self you beat if it makes you feel good

My experience has been that most douche bags with Vettes don't know how to drive them, so wiping the asphalt with one isn't too tough with a shred of ability and a stock SGT.

whats a douche bag does that mean its a guy in a shelby that wanted a corvette but cant afford it or some one who has to drop 10k for a supercharger to go as fast as a corvette ...in a corvette alll you have to do is push the gas down and leave it in drive see the tail lights shelby

:eek5:

"Wow. edit*

Sounds more like a Bow-tie guy than a Ford guy to me. I agree that stock vs stock, no comparo. But...

My $50k+ Sgt/SC will SMOKE my buddies $50k+ Vette, all day, any day. You don't like your SGT?

I liken your argument to the one that says the Mitsu is "better" because its AWD.

OK :stirpot::extinguish:

You and I, I think, have had this conversation before? Like December 2007 or May 2008? Either way your off on the SGT, Motor Trend has the 2007 SGT at 13.5 so does FOMOCO. So in the "real" world all it takes is the driver of either car to beat the other. You can tell yourself the vette wins hands down if that makes you feel good. :)

I saw PottyDr (Rick) beat the times of a whole bunch of GT 500s, including SS's and KR's, in his GT/SC at LVMS this past weekend. The driver plays as much into the race as the horsepower, if not more. It's all good and fun guys, I was not trying to start a pissing contest. Then to see Gary Patterson get behind the wheel of the same GT 500KR and have a much better time than the owner because he really knows what he is doing!! :happy feet:

WHEN YOU OWN BOTH LET ME KNOW, THE FACTS ARE THE FACTS MOTOR TREND IS IN IDEAL CLIMATE CONTROL THE VETTE WOULD DO IN THE 12'S IN THE SAME FIELD
