08SGT1977
Hey, I knew my mpg average was 18-19 by the computer and I know that's not as accurate as by hand but my total lifetime mileage divided by my total lifetime fuel consumption off the computer is over 24 miles per gallon! I want my gas guzzler tax refunded back to me! I drive the snot out of this thing and that is far better than a lot of cars and trucks on the road today! DDT
Actually I just got back on a traffic free drive to Vegas and the comp. was 24 MPG in my 05 GT.... Ave. Speed approx 80 MPH?????????? :D
Carl Bishop
My 10 day trip to MI for the dream cruise we traveled just over 2000 miles which included many hours of stop and crawl traffic on Woodward Ave. Our avarage for the entire trip was 24.1 mpg. On the way to MI from NC we avaraged almost 28 mpg on the highway. It seems to be getting better with more miles on the motor.

4632R
I've gotten 24 mpg on the interstate with my gt-500, and to think we had to pay gas guzzler tax, what a @#$%^& scam!!!!!!!!

In my humble opinion we got royally screwed when paying out the $1,000 for the gas guzzler tax. Perhaps one of us is an attorney who could file a class action lawsuit and get some of our money back. ipchay61
I've gotten as high as 28.7 mpg in my '07 GT. Averaged over 26 on a trip from Columbia, SC to Greensboro, NC and back while driving in the 80-85 mph range most of the time.
08SGT1977
This is great. I knew they could get in the high twenties on the highway but I never thought the overall average would be in the twenties much less 24 mpg. I want to put the 3.73 gears in the rear end so I am sure it will take a hit after that!

SR SNAKE
I drove to Las Vegas two months ago traveling almost the entire way on Hwy 95. South bound going and north bound returning. I drove most of the way doing 100 mph. My computer indicated a mileage of 21.4 My car is a 605 SS and it isn't even green. Gary
jmn444
the $1000 is the minimum gas guzzler tax and is based on a combined mpg of 21.5-22.5, it gets higher as it goes down from there...
mywickedshelby
I wouldnt trust the accuracy of the computer...............guys post here they got 28+ on road trips....... there are only 3 possible explanations for that: Total BS The car was on a trailer at the time and they conveniently didnt mention that the computer is inaccurate..... ....not saying you didnt get 24, Im saying I would do the math yourself and double check..... James Hill
Last April drove from Oregon to Vegas to Birmingham AL and back to Oregon and got 24.7 mpg, which I thought was ok. Around town, I get between 15-17 mpg, but when I take it to track days, it drops to 10 mpg, but thats ok too.

On my 600 mile trip to Vegas to drop off Betsy for the SC, I averaged 71mph and 23.2mpg, mostly 80-85mph with traffic flow and periods of "spirited" driving. Saturday I drove back... Average 77 mph and 21.4mpg, mostly 85-90, again with the flow of traffic with more "spirited" incidents... Not bad.

My 28.7 mpg was calculated from tip odometer and actual gallons required to fill up, not computer based (although the computer had me at 28.3). This was on a trip to a car show in Charleston, SC. We had about 14 cars riding along together and the average speed was 67 mph (by the computer). My computer "gallons used" is always within 0.2 gallons of what it actually requires to fill up so it seems resonably accurate. This is a regular GT, not an SGT. How much difference would the CAI and tune cause?.
Carl Bishop
That and having "The Governor" in the passenger seat - eh, Carl? No issue there. mine was sleeping most of the way there.... sdcarguy
Just finished a 2700 mile trip to Michigan and Manitoba, and averaged 24.1 (high 26.8, low 22.2) by hand calculations, running 70-80 mph. I think my mileage decreased later in the trip as the dirt and smashed bugs increased my wind resistance B)

The fourth possibility is that you are just envious. The break-in trip in our 2009 GT/CS was 2,692.9 miles, yielded an actual beginning-to-end MPG average of 25.90. That's at a computer-controlled speed limit-plus-five-MPH, which in some parts was 90. Also included a few long stretches of century-plus West Texas "cruising". Across Arizona, 10.644 gallons, 253.3 gallons, 30.59 MPG. Downhill from Flagstaff to Phoenix on the return trip: 4.730 gallons, 150.9 miles, 31.90 MPG. At the other end, the most recent tank included eighteen eighth-mile drag race passes, some mostly-around-town stuff, and not that much freewaying: 10.564 gallons, 171.1 miles, 16.20 MPG. 64peter
My best was 22.5 MPG on a 30 mile stretch of highway with the cruise control set for 75 MPH. Not bad for an SGT/SC turning the 500HP Whipple (granted my foot was never in it) with 255's up front and 275's in back. Although, just like my 1987 F250 4x4 with the 460 / 4 barrel, I didn't buy it for the gas milage !

39Mustang
Hey, I knew my mpg average was 18-19 by the computer and I know that's not as accurate as by hand but my total lifetime mileage divided by my total lifetime fuel consumption off the computer is over 24 miles per gallon! I want my gas guzzler tax refunded back to me! I drive the snot out of this thing and that is far better than a lot of cars and trucks on the road today! On a Shelby GT highly unlikely and if blower equipped I don't think so. My other daily ride is a 2006 Legend Lime GT with a CDC Shaker system, Magnaflow axle-back, K&N filter, Royal Purple 5w20, 18" Ford Racing rims w/ Bridgestone Potenza, and everything else is factory stock. This car fully loaded meaning 2 people/suit cases/detailing stuff/ made 2 trips from south Florida to Las Vegas and I would go through Dallas meaning I'm picking up I-40 in Amarillo and from that point of west Texas all the way until Kingman AZ I averaged 26.4mpg on the computer! I had a witness as I couldn't believe it myself. Does the Shaker system have anything to do with that, I think so as its constantly shoving fresh air into the motor. This Mustang and my 08 Shelby GT/SC went on the same roadtrip and the 06 GT ended up getting 4.5mpg better than the Shelby so 24mpg on a stock GT is possible but on modified ones, not likely.
