After one month at the dealership

First, Rick the service writer at Prestige Ford in Garland, Tx did a great job keeping up with the progress of our car through the hood scoop, stripes, synchro TSB and install and muffler issues. Thanks Rick!

Second, the body shop did and AWESOME job installing the final hood scoop fix and new stripes. All I can say is WOW! Flawless! And I received my car washed, waxed and with tire shine!

So allow me to say, if you have issues with your car use PRESTIGE FORD in GARLAND TX and ask for RICK.

Third, you really need to see if you can get the synchro TSB done to your car if you have issues. The smoothness of the shifting is night and day and it just glides into gear now with the firm feel of the Hurst shifter backing it up. No more forcing.

And lastly,

I have been teasing my wife that my 2006 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax with 650 ft lbs of torque and 350 hp will hang with the SGT.

Tonight when bringing the SGT home we got on an open stretch of road running 95 mph with me hot on her tail. Then she shifted to 4th and all I saw was two puffs of white smoke from the tail pipes and tail lights fade into the distance.

Damn that car is fast...

I had my syncro done also and yes it shifts perfectly now. Unfortunatly the dealer has my scoop and are trying to figure out if the grabber stripe in the middle is supposed to be painted or if it's vinyl. I told them paint but they seem to think that its vinyl. The new scoop comes painted silver already. I am also waiting on new hood stripes and passenger rocker stripe.

Which dealer is doing the stripes? Is it due to the discoloration?

Stump,

I've followed your posts since you got our shelby and glad everything turned out okay with Prestigue Ford in Garland, TX, I'm curious if anyone has seen an actual TSB with instructions and pictures on the take off procedure and reinstallation procedure for a shelby hood scoop is done.

I am having mine removed by a really good body shop and restriping my car and having the scoop repainted and got some replacement rivets from SPP. There have been loads of posts on the scoops and I've completed ready many of them, but there is always someone on thr forum smarter than me that can lay their hands on this stuff. Jeffisheretoo seems to be really good at keeping up with TSBs.

Any help appreciated......GG

If loving a diesel truck is wrong then I don't want to be right! :hysterical:

I've haven't ran biofuel yet, not more than 10% anyway. Presently I run 2-stroke oil every tank and man does it make the truck run better and quieter. I had to install a turbo back 4" pipe of course. With Chevy's VVT turbo it sounds like a jet engine every time I hammer the throttle. It's amazing what ~750 cfm or air sounds like coming out of a 4" pipe. Usually the people I pass hate it.... :hysterical3:

There is no TSB for the hood scoop. I would go into the hood scoop thread and collect the info posted there and give it to your body shop.

Good luck!

Jeff,

Their is just an overwhelming amount of posts on the scoop, this is what I found. I am going to give this to the body shop, someone else chime in if I have missed it.

Thanks, GG

Here's the "scoop"

If, you do not take off the hood, the scoop will not line up properly and you will not get it to fit flush. You HAVE to have one person on top to hold it down and make sure the stripes line up. The other person has to be underneath to install the bolts. They first put a little bit of locktite on the bolts. Starting from the rear of the scoop, they install the bolts. They do not tighten the rear ones all the way yet. Then they work towards the front. While the person underneath is doing this, the top person is holding the scoop in place. Also while he is hold the scoop, he also is sort of "pushing" (almost like cupping) the sides in at the same time. After all 10 bolts are installed, the bottom person can go back and tighten up all of the bolts. But, they can not be over tightened. This can really distort the scoop.

As for the hood coming off. On the stanges, its really easy to remove AND it goes right back on where it came off. Meaning, there are no aligniment points. The wholes on the hinges not not oblonged. So the hood will not slide around. It goes right back on the way it came off.

So as you can see what we do to install the scoop, you can tell that there is no way to put the scoop on correctly with the hood still on the vehicle.

Hope this helps.

Bud

I think the scoop comes with instructions. What you described is the instructions when the scoop still bolted on. Now the scoop is riveted all the way around it's edge.
