Difference between "KR" and M-5230-MSVTL muffs

Hey guys, from ALL that I have read...I have heard that the best sounding and "most popular" axle backs to put on my new 2010 are the KR and the FRPP-M-5230-MSVTL. What is the real difference between the two? I mean exhaust tone, volume, drone and fitment......I may just have to deal with the 3.5" tips versus the 4.0" stock tips...if the sound/volume is "just right". I want it to be a good bit louder than stock but not muff delete obnoxious...if you know what I mean. Thanks!

I was wondering that same thing because I almost ordered the KR's, but then I saw them on a '10 and feel the 3.5" is just too small. My other concern is that I believe the Stingers have some drone, whereas the KRs do not.

I know what you mean...I am still kinda baffled that FRPP has not changed the tip size for the '10 SVT exhaust lineup to accomodate the stock 4.0" tips.

To clarify the KR vs the FRPP-M-5230-MSVTL...the SVTL is the "stinger" version for 2010. I believe, per FRPP, that this is the "loud" version for the SVT 2010. I do know that EVO swears that the tip size for the SVTL is 4.0" not 3.5"...they just did an install for Baby Gorilla on his 2010. I have heard MANY GT500 (07-09) owners love the KR...but what is the difference in these two..............for 2010.

I have the KR's on my '08 and love the sound. I am a rare person that kept the X-pipe and love it. Alot of people like to change to the less efficient H-pipe for a lower tone, but I like the exotic sound of the x-pipe.

I think the '07-09 have a silver body the change for the '10 is a painted black body and longer tip length to accomidate the added depth of the '10 bumper.

What's up AlloyDropTop! Do the KR's sound very different than the Stingers? Are they much louder than stock? I noticed on the FRPP website that the KR's are 50 state legal (so pretty loud) and the Stingers are 49 state legal (so much louder)...Is that a fair assumption?

Out side of muffer deletes, the KR mufflers are the loudes best sounding

Try this, remove your muffler and start up the car, rev her up, if you like the sound go with muffler delete cat back if its too loud but like that sound, go with the KRs

The Borlas sound pretty tame and boring, not bad but very dull sounding. The KRs and muffler deletes will make your car come alive.

FRPP pulled this stuff with the 07-09 owners too.

It seemed like every 6 months they would come out with a new muffler. Some droned, some didn't, some were raspy and some were not. The same with 49 State vs. 50 State legal.

Still no video from me (work, four children age seven and under, yard work, etc.). Most I can contribute for now is a pic of the M-5230-SVTL "Stinger" that Evo installed, showing 4" tip. I think that the FRPP site (and the Evo site) mistakenly call these 3.5" tips, but they're not. Kent or Fred, correct me if I'm wrong.

I know exactly what you mean. The Stingers are just a TOUCH louder than stock.

So the Stingers are a "touch" louder than stock...does that mean the KR's are louder than the Stingers? :headscratch::banghead:

I am pleased to see that your stingers are actually 4.0"! I think that they look GREAT!

Here is a link to a GT500 owner with "KR" mufflers. Honestly I can't tell much of a difference. I realize compressed videos aren't the best source but he just saved me some money. Keep in mind our cars are much louder then the 07-09 stock.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=484428

The '10 maybe louder than a stock '07-'09, but it can't be close to as loud as the KR mufflers at mid to full throttle. The KR mufflers are fairly quite at idle, and low throttle, but mid to full throttle they sound like NASCAR Cup car's leaving the pits. Absolutely amazing....

Here is a better clip that may give a better impression. Not my car, but a great clip....

If I am correct..........there are 2 sets of Stingers for the '10 GT500...........regular Stingers and "Super" Stingers (which I believe are the loudest). Maybe the guys at EVO can put together some KR's with 4" tips since they can do pretty much everything else (hint - hint............EVO --you guys do this and I'll be the first one to buy)!!!

Mixxer.............are you reading this???? :drool::drool:

have you heard a clip of the deletes? i was thinking the same thing but after seeing a clip they weren't nearly as loud as I thought they would be. I ordered mine right after seeing the clip

I will tell you this...if EVO or anybody were to find a way to put a 4" tip on the KR's, like 2sharpie said...I would more than likely get the KR's myself. The ONLY thing holding me somewhat back is the 3.5" tips.

2nd2none: I have heard the muffler deletes. Like you said, when hearing clips of them, they sound pretty good. I would probalby have to hear them in person to sway me that way. Just the simple "muffler delete" makes me think that they are very loud. Like everyone says on here...any video does not give any exhaust any justice on actual tone and volume...

2sharpie: On EVO's site it does say "super stinger" I checked the FRPP site to look them up...it appears that those are mainly for a GT application, not a GT500 application...does that matter?

I'm not sure, but I do not think it matters since they are listed under the products fit for the 2010 Shelby. And I'm with you...........I dont see why the KRs can't be fabricated with a 4" tip .... and if they are, I WILL buy them in a heartbeat.

Wow, then the KR exhaust must be VERY close to 2010 stock in terms of loudness, because I really don't feel that the Stinger is loud or obtrusive at all.

I believe it is. I think people forget that the car has better sound insulation then the previous model. Even with the windows down it wouldn't sound as loud. However, when I followed my father when he drove me car it sounds really good stock. Keep in mind I had a 05 GT with SLP Loudmouths.
