adjusting to 3:73's

I just changed to 3:73's. The car is obviously quicker, but seems to lack the raw brute power I felt with the factory gears after adding the Stage II package. Maybe I just need to adjust to shift patterns? The tires break loose through 3rd gear, so I know power is there.

Any advice/comments from those with 3:73's is appreciated.

Your power is still there :happy feet: However we do lose mph in each gear, with the lower 3:73;s she is taching out much quicker ! So get some good drag radials and enjoy

I would have said to break them in slower and heat cycle them, but I think your beyond that now.

As far as power I think your just spinning them so that may be the difference. I love mine, I'm much happier with them.

I put 500 miles on the gears before really testing them, various speeds to seat them in properly. My brother has a Super Snake and he loves the 3:73's, so I may just need more time. I need to work on traction and wheel hop now (UCA's and LCA's are next).

Install the Ford racing lowering springs and your wheel hop will be gone completely. Changing the arms will give you ride harschness you may not like.JMHO.......................

Actually, I am one of the few that like the car sitting higher in back. I like the aggressive stance and would not want to lower the rear of the car. I will check into the ride harshness issue with control arm changes before making that switch-thanks.

Shelby will be releasing new control arms fairly soon if you can wait. I don't know anything about them. Maybe someone in the know can comment. I am currently using J&M control arms (LCAs & UCA) because of their design. They do increase NVH a bit but the wheel hop is gone.

This really is a matter of perception. I had a blown C6 corvette and it never felt fast because I could always blow the tires off in 1st-3rd. Only when I was at the track, getting awesome traction and running 129mph trap speeds could I really feel the power. I decided not to run drag radials on the street and not break anything, but then I also lost almost all races I ran on the street because no matter a dig or roll my 570rwhp c6 could blow off the tires. You start to doubt your car and its power, because you can never use it. With my shelby, I will be running ET streets all the time when I do the uaual mods. Its all in your head. Get a nice 1st gear pull at the track and it will rip your head off, then you will feel the power.
