S/C Installer in the Bay Area?? CA

I’m contemplating installing the Whipple 550 or edelbrock supercharger on my 08 Shelby GT(have to make up my mind), I have installed a vortech once before on my 97 mustang; however, I was just curious as to any reparable shops near me. I don't have a lot of spare time anymore so I might just pay to have someone do it. I live out in Tracy and wouldn’t mind driving a ways. Thanks for the help guys

Welcome to Team Shelby, lots of resources and good people here.

Talk to Kevin Patten at Performance Art in Gilroy, a number of people here use their services, and as far as I know, very positive, myself included.

check them out at www.performanceartonline.com

It is definately worth a phone call

Plus 1 on Performance Art.

Also, go with the FRPP Whipple. The tune from Ford Racing is the best!

Thanks Guys, I gave them a call and their trying to work out a price for me now, it's in Gilroy does anyone know of a shop a little closer to the Bay Area, Stockton, Sac??

I had Dando's Automotive in Fremont do the install of my TVS and it went great. The owner is my next door neighbor. High quality work and fair prices. His side business at the shop is restorations and high performance modifications. If you call him tell him Dana sent you and he will treat you right.

If you decide to take it to Ken, then I recommend that you get a cheeseburger at the Squeeze Inn. The Inn has been featured on the Food Network, and they have unbelieveablely tasty cheeseburgers there. It's a tiny place, and you'll probably have to wait for a seat, but the wait is worth it.

They put so much cheese on the burger, there's about a 3" diameter crispy fried cheese ring that hangs out past the bun. You have to eat the cheese before you can get to the burger.

:drool::drool::drool:

Sorry for the derail, now: :backtotopic:

I’ve called and emailed a few places that everyone has recommended and so far the first estimate that I got to have the Whipple 550 installed was $1634.20, does this sound about right??

Thanks again for all the suggestions and help

I've never seen this job performed but I have to assume it is less than a full days work (8 hours). That would put his labor rate over $200.00 per hour. We've got some real pros here that should know exactly how long it would take.

The Labor hours for the job were 15.9 so that would put it right around $100 an hour. I was a mechanic for 8 years, I guess I could just stop being lazy and do it myself :)

Hell, I must have about $40K in tools sitting in a huge Snap-on box in the garage just collecting dust.

I did mine myself with a friend. We fired it up in about 10 hours, though we were being very cautious during the process.

I imagine an pro mechanic who has done the install before could do it in about 6 hours.

If you decide to install it yourself, let me know when and I would be happy to lend a hand.

Michael
