Lesson Learned

 Well, tonight I was detailing the engine bay with some Simple Green, the garden hose and a Safeway bag. All was good until I started the engine (to help it dry off), at that point I remembered I forgot to take the safeway bay off my JLT filter. Engine ran for about 3 seconds and I turned it off, well that filter folded life a Japanese car on an old pine tree. Any one have a good resource for a new red filter? If I order new what other cheap mods from Lethal can I slip under the wifes radar? Remember to take off the bag..

Oh no! Funny story, but sorry can't offer any advice :(

One time I had washed my car and had placed a towel over the engine to catch the water coming down from the heat extractors... I drove five miles to a friend's house when I remembered it was still under there!

Luckily the towel was still sitting nicely in place when popped the hood!

Just take it off and use your hand to push it out from the inside. Assuming you can get your hand in there. Call JLT for a replacement.

I had a client with a BMW do the same thing last month. I detailed the outside and he decided to try and do the engine himself. I will be detailing the engine from now on.

You are lucky, imagine if that sucker would have caught the belt!

I pushed it out but the ribs on the filter are almost impossible to straighten out. I reviewed your posts last night in regards to cleaning the engine, you should change your directions to include the bag removal, just kidding. Thanks for the advice on this forum.

I've done this as well. I only pulled it in the garage. Opened the hood to detail the engine bay and found the towel. It was all good.
