That's odd. I guess its a good thing my car is black cuz if there is missing paint, you wouldn't be able to see it.

SmellSoGood
I will take some and post tommorrow I have to get my 22 year old to show me how to post them. It's pretty interesting how we tend to go over a new car with a fine comb inspecting, getting acquainted, learning, and finding any imperfection. This must be the 5th or 6th and possibly 7th quality citing posted by new owners. I'm very surprised these things are still occurring and having been in business for 106 years. At the tune of $50k, I'm now questioning whether this car was the right decision for me considering the quality I have been used to receiving in German cars. War Eagle
I just noticed while detailing my new Grabber and white that right in the corners of the front grill bolth inside and outside did not get painted properly and the black plastic shows through also the inside of the driving light area I took it to the dealer and it will be a warranty issue just wondering if anyone else has noticed this? I had the same problem on my bumper on the right side where it mates with the fender. At the very top the paint was really thin and when the car was assembled the paint "film" came off and wadded up in the joint line. When I first saw it it looked like a piece of paper or plastic that had been inserted in the joint. The bumper is very flexible and when I gently pushed it to remove the "trash" I discovered that the entire top of the bumper at the end was not painted. When the thin piece of paint film came off it left a bare black patch that I have touched up with some D3 red paint I got from the Dealer body shop. After the red I finished with some clear and unless you are looking for it you won't notice it. I will take some pictures this morning to show you the location. The mustang is a cheap mass produced car and the GT500 is built on the same line as the cheapest mustang. The fit and finish receives no special treatment over and above that of the V-6. Despite a few small quality problems I have found I am still very happy with my car. My 2010 is a much nicer car than my 2009 and is a lot more value for the dollar. So far the overall quality of my car meets my expectations with the exception of the paint problem I found. The hood misalignment is a design problem and I now have mine pretty close and I am happy with it. Steve
War Eagle
The touched up area is most visible in bright light and if you are eye level or below. looking down it is not very visible. The bare spot was about 3/4 inch long and nearly 1/16 wide. The paint at the top of the bumper in this location is very poorly done, is spotty, thin and bare in some areas. When the bumper is mated to the fender during assembly the thin paint is rubbed off and is wadded up in the joint and looks like trash. In the second photo you can still see a small "blistered area" behind the touched up area that may eventually come off. I chose to touch it up myself because I did not want the bumper pulled and painted. It would never have been "right" after it was pulled and done locally. BDrool
I have the exact same problem on my black GT500, only in more than one spot. It looks to like Ford tried to make the joints a little too tight and vibration caused it to chip. I just touched it up with a gloss black touch up pen from an auto store and is now almost invisible. When I get a wild hair, Ill pull it apart and just shave a mil off, touch it up, and reassemble.
machinehead
At the tune of $50k, I'm now questioning whether this car was the right decision for me considering the quality I have been used to receiving in German cars. I love German cars but they have issues to. I currently own a 2006 M3 convertible and a 2007 Mercedes E550. They both have little niggly type problems. Since day 1 the Mercedes has had a rattle in the engine compartment that the dealer can't find. This on a $66,000 car. Then the rear tires wore on the inside and the dealer told me the rear alignment was out from the factory. The other thing that happened is one day I opened the sunroof and a small piece of plastic trim fell out. Not very noticeable but the dealer said the sunroof would have to be removed to fix it. The BMW has been pretty good but just yesterday I got in the car and noticed that the foam backing on the floor mat, which is attached by velcro to the floor, had torn off and the mat is no longer attached. I would add that I am a fanatic when it comes to care and maintenance of my vehicles. Both are stored winters and have low miles. The Bimmer less than 5000 and the MB has about 11000. ...and don't even get me started on the Audi A4 I owned a few years back. My wife drives on '08 Escalade and it has had minor problems as well. If you expect perfection on any car you'll be disappointed.

It's odd how one car can spoil the bunch. I bet if I got another German car it would be a headache - that one car that would have nagging problems. FYI, the 2002 Audi S4 (built May 2001) twin-turbo I currently own has 116k and has only been in the shop for brakes, rotors, and timing belt. See how experiences are with cars? They are random and not specific to manufacturer, always.

My girlfriend had a 2002 Audi A4 and everything started to go south after 70k. She was good about changing the oil, rotating the tires, and such. ChrisSD
Indeed nothing is perfect. My brand new '10: Broken fuel pump Passenger seat "stuffing" coming out of lower cusion, not stuffed in and stitched Bubbles in tape stripes that I smoothed and popped out the side Hood alignment to bumper cover poor Hopefully that's it! Have you already taken care of the underneath rust. Sorry just had to do it, I still have that on my list after my paint and hood problem. But Hey, there is no way in Heck that anyone is getting this car away from me. Steve

alaska
Ok I have a question I took the car to the dealer today and showed them the areas and here is what he said. He had heard rumors that ford was going to do minor imperfections such as this to identify it as an original Shelby? They did say the would fix but I am wondering is this even possible? I would have to disagree about the "original shelby" part , the vin number says its a GT 500 so that would be more of an indicator of a REAL SHELBY , than paint imperfections..
