Brand new, broke!

Bought my new 2010 Kona/White on Friday. Heard a hissing sound from the fuel pumps, not the normal slight whine. Took it home anyway. It would stumble a bit at 2k RPM cruise. Next startup I heard a LOUD prime of the pumps, like when you change your fuel filter and there is no pressure. Started it, now heard the hiss plus a swooshing sound from the pumps. Drove well enough back to dealer. They took the pumps out. There is a white plastic "hat" that sits on both pump outputs. On one of mine, whoever built the pump never installed the locking ring, so that hat was leaking massive pressure.

Owned car 9 hours and it's out of my posession already! Sad, but it'll get fixed. Unfortunately the 2010 pump assembly is not the same as 07-09, so there are NONE in the system. Four are in Detroit and thats it. Dealer was great, couldn't ask for more. Gave me a loaded Edge SEL to drive and are going to UPS Red the pump tomorrow.

Can't wait!

Aren't dealers supposed to do an inspection before delivery to make sure basic sh*t like this doesn't leave the shop? I mean, Ford should be doing a QC before putting on rail/convoy. Cars sit for weeks/months before shipping and no one is doing anything to make sure these things are ready to roll to the customer. Yuck!!!!

Was caught instantly with fuel pressure gauge. I agree, this should have been detected. This isn't something that broke, it was something that was never correct to begin with. Lot of failures... guy who assembled the pump, guy who installed it, guy who fired the car up for basic operation checks etc. Whoever drove the car the first 14 miles before I got it should have noticed too, I did instantly.

Not stressing it though, as long as someone makes it right which my dealer is doing an excellent job of.

Just remember....the GT500 shares alot of it's parts and pieces with a $20K rental car version. Many of the parts and pieces are designed to that price point, and not the $50K price point we all paid. Just the way it is..... Probably not the fuel parts this car had wrong, but probably the same people cranking those out as fuel pumps for $18K Focus's, too.

All betta.

Feels great. Only other gripe I'll live with is shoddy paintwork on the back edge of the front bumper, the side facing the edge of the hood.

Has anyone noticed a slight vibration of the e-brake handle and shifter when doing a normal takeoff in 1st from a light? It's very brief, almost like the exhaust resonance might just be vibrating things a bit.
