KR Brake Duct Kit

Recommended Posts

I am considering buying a KR and was told about the brake duct cooling kit that comes with the car (uninstalled, in a box in he trunk).

Why was this not installed by the factory? Why should it be installed, or not installed, by the owner?

Yes, you should install them, and if I recall correctly, they are not installed by SAI because they conflict with the car carrier's lash down straps.

I was told by my dealer after he called SVT that they were not cold weather tested and were not allowed to be installed by ford in case snow got between them and the brakes. Good story. I had mine put on.

Anyone had problems with the shifter getting loose. Mine was getting looser so I pulled up the cover and re-tightened the bolts

I put the screens in, I like the bezel look. I have also taken the passenger side hose off, and redirected the driver hose up to the CAI filter. I found out for myself I do not need the additional cooling if not on a road coarse. They actually get to cold and seemed a bit slow to stop the car. For me, not having the KR hood, I like the fresh cool air going to the filter.

jmo.

have fun

Could you clarify as I didn't see any screens for the holes inside the brake kit box delivered with my KR...just the hoses. I just opened the holes that were shut by a plastic piece and installed the hoses.
