gradona
The Story This is our general managers car. The original hood pins kept coming loose. On one occasion the hood pin damaged one of the hood stripes. He came to me and asked if we could get the stripes replaced under warranty. Now, dealing with Shelby is no walk through the park, so to speak. I had to furnish all VIN, Owner, Odometer, etc. information and submit pictures before they would even consider allowing us to replace the stripes. After that it took roughly a week for them to approve the repair, however I was told that the hood scoop would have to be replaced with an upgraded designed scoop in order for the warranty to remain intact. The replacement scoop required drilling new holes in the hood. They sent me the stripes first. We subleted the repair out to a local accessory shop that specialized in stripping. The scoop didn't show up for another 4 days. Upon examining it we found that it had been damaged in shipping. This required me to take pictures of the damage and email them to Shelby in order to get approval for a replacement. Another week passes before I get a replacement scoop. Now, every tech in the shop looks at the elaborate instructions that came with the scoop on how to replace it and they all wash their hands of it. NOPE, Ain't gonna do it. Now I begin my search for a shop that wants to take this on. One local body shop says, "Sure I'll do it". He schedules it and we deliver the car to him. He has the car for one day and proudly delivers it in the condition shown. Now keep in mind that the original scoop had been removed previous to him even seeing the car so he had no idea what it looked like with a scoop. When the general manager told him "We have a slight problem" the body shop guys face went completely white. Now, if it were only that he had to turn it around there would be no big problem but when he turns it around 2 of the holes he drilled (Right through the stripes) will show. So now we need another set of hood stripes as well as some body work on the hood. As I said, dealing with Shelby is not an easy task. I called and explaind this whole story to Shelbe. After the guy stopped laughing he promised to ship me out another set of stripes at no charge. Cudos to Shelby. I'm certainly hoping this is the end of the story but we will see.............. APPLESREDGT500
Lucky the GM does'nt want a new hood, I know If I had to have holes puddied,primed/painted and of course you have to paint the whole hood so I would rather want a new hood no putty buddy. gradona
Well the Saga is not over yet. After the guy screwed it up he tried to repair it but he did not want to attempt doing the stripes. I took it to the place that originally did the stripes, they said "No Way" would they stripe it. The repair was shoddy and every defect in the hood would show right through the stripes. When I informed the GM he said "Get me a new hood". The new hood and the car are now at another shop being prepared to meet each other. When I asked the GM what he was going to do about the guy who screwed up the job his reply was to the affect that half of his family are lawers and it won't cost him a penny to bring a law suit. The Saga Continues...............
