Alright, enough already. I am tired of waiting.

Anyone know of a black with black stripes convertible on the ground around the NY state area (say within 750 miles)?

if so, please let me know. I don't really care about the options at this point.

Thank you!

the only black/black vert i've ever seen on ebay was that one i posted awhile ago from a dealer in Arizona. guy I work with bought a 2010 Camaro in PA and had it shipped to San Diego for around $850 to give you an idea on shipping price

Go to www.fordd.com, select Ford, select find a dealer, enter your zip code, go to the dealer and select inventory, car, mustang.......you will see a listing of all mustangs they have, if over $45k it's probably a GT500, you can also see teh window sticker. This method will yeield the closest to you. It is a bit slow, but it works.......that's how i found bouth GT500 that I have owned.

I've tried this, but it is NOT accurate. For example, it does not show as in stock the GT500 coupe at my local dealer. So I can't do it this way. Bah!

@Maxhenry : All I can find in listings is Black with Silver Stripes. Would you consider that? Or are you set on Black Stripes?

I am set on the black on black. It's funny, I have found a few of the black with silver, but just not what I am looking for.

Thank you to all for your help!

Sorry Maxhenry...I'll keep checking around in my spare time for you...

Just FYI : I also came across some stripe "delete" black convertibles. Don't know if you'd go that route if it comes down to it?

Thank you for your help. I have seen the stripe delete as well, and I know I can have the stripes installed or replaced. I am just afraid to have a new car dicked with by the dealers, some of whom are not so great.

Frankly, I just want to see the car and buy it (or at least know what to expect).

Sigh. I'll just keep looking, I guess. And waiting.

The irony of doing this in the worst recession in 50 years is astounding.

I can understand that.

Well, you still have your order in, right? I know it's been a month...but you never know when you may get the call. Have you called Ford CS to check on the status of your order? I'd check every Friday. If you get a bad rep who can't tell you much...just hang up and call them back and get another rep.

I just saw a 2009 that had had its stripes replaced on the hood.It looked just like new-evreything lined up,in the right place etc.I asked how it was done, and he said the dealer had a laser guidance system and it took 4 hours to do it--just for the hood--they didt have the lower stripes. If you tell you want the stripes on the dealer before you take delivery, you shouldnt hve to screw around with them--just a thought

Using just the VIN should work just fine. I just called and only provided the vin and they gave me a status. "Out of Production"; What ever that means???

Didn't they give you a factory order sheet?

If not - Yeah, you would have to call the dealer to get all the info to relay to the Customer Service Rep.

I believe that you need the following :

  • Dealer Code

  • Dealer Zip Code

  • Your Name (obviously)

  • Your Zip Code (obviously)

  • Body Style Code (which would be P8K for Convertibles, I believe)

  • Year of Car

  • Model

  • Order Number

Some ask you for all of that...some don't. Oh and if you have your factory order sheet...make sure your priority code is "10".

Hi BB,

What are the different priority codes and meanings? I think mine was 99.

Thanks,

The lower the priority code the quicker it's "supposed" to be processed - ahead of dealer "stock" orders. The priority codes range from 10-99

I see you already got your VIN...so I don't think it matters at this point.

2nd2none, would you post up pictures of your car?

just got a new camera. will try and get some pics up tomorrow.

a note, if you get a car with different stripes and plan to just swap them out you need to remember the seats will probably have the other color stripes on them as well. A dealer was trying to get me to buy a black/silver they had saying they could just swap the stripes. he shut up once i said i didnt want to have silver stripes on my seats
