Is This Normal?

Hello,

New and first time to post. I just bought a new 2009 GT500 in Texas. The water necks going into the intake appear to be pitted. Of course the dealer said its normal, I not buying yet. There is also a valve cover bolt that has rust around it? Can any of you tell me if I should be worried about this. Please see pictures below:

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum.

You'll have a blast with the car if you buy one.

Check the mileage.

Looks like the bolt is the anode in a cathodic protection system and doesn't look Normal to me.

Looks like the aluminum neck was sitting in water and then re blasted before installation.

I am not an expert auto mechanic or builder though I do know something about cathodic protection in a salt water environment...

just my thoughts others will chime in.

I would like to know if anyone has come up with a way to keep the aluminum from oxidizing...

The pitting is normal. Both my GT500's have it. The bolt, not normal. Make them replace it. Where in Texas are you?

My car has some of that, too. I looked at cars at car shows and some have it and some don't.... I don't get it, either??? My car never gets wet, so after I cleaned it up, it only comes back when condensation forms, etc....

It forms were humdity is spray and oil base and will not happen. Buddy of mind works on aircraft and gave me a can of corrosive proof. Has not form back!!

Does anyone have a cleaner they like best for the engine?

Thanks for all the help!

Thanks,

I am in Fort Worth. Thanks I will make them replace the bolt. Other than that I am very happy with the car!

Were did you are it? Just curious. I am from Keller. Some dealers I talked to did not want to come down from sticker. I finally got a good deal on a 2009 in Dallas. They are great cars.

Sam Pack Five Star Ford. I got them to come down 2000 on mine, must of been my lucky day. It was just before the cars for clunkers deal came out and they were getting hungry.

It has always been my dream car and now I am blessed to own one!

See ya on the streets,

I looked there but they always try to screw me on my trade in. I guess you got the white one with the red stripe package. I wanted the vista blue, but when I emailed them, they said they wanted sticker for it. I talked to them about getting a fully loaded 2010 GT but they did not what I wanted and they were dragging there feet. They only wanted to make me a deal after I bought one from there dealership in Carollton. I got $3000 more for my trade. I do my maintenance there.

I've used ICE detail spray and use ICE paste on everything under the hood. Keeps it looking good and protects the black plastic and rubber parts with no haze or dust.
