Tow Point/Strap

Recommended Posts

I've been going to more track events and although I've not had any need to get towed off the track I worry about if it happens and what damage will be done to my car. What I have been able to research is that there is a tow point on the back behind the lic. plate (approx) and we can replace the front bumper with one drilled for a tow hook to be installed. I was thinking about removing either the left or right front signal lights to see if there might be a point behind them for attaching a tow strap. The signal seems to be easy to remove and this is something I think can be done at the track (since I'm not using my signals) and then reinstalled at the end of the day. Before I take everything apart I want to see if anyone had any thoughts or if you've taken the front fascia off and could tell me if you think it can be done. The other option is to remove the rear plate and cut a hole in the fascia, an idea I'm not too fond of.

This thread may help a bit. http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php...226&hl=hook

I used this thread, did some research and, in the end, decided to go with these parts:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_...tKeyField=10490

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_...tKeyField=10488

JBA Racing is local to me (I'm in San Diego) and they are going to do the install, including the dreaded cutting of the front bumper cover to allow the tow hook through.

Good luck on your quest. If you do something different than what I am doing, post photos.

Jim

Thanks, Jim, and right on the money...Again. How do you do it?
