What is a dead pedal?

Recommended Posts

I keep hearing everyone talk about a dead pedal. What is that? :fool:

A dead pedal is a fourth "pedal" that is set against the left driver's well wall. It is set on a metal post and it does absolutely nothing, except act as a place to rest your left foot.

I had one of these in my '81 RX-7, back in '81. It is kinda surprising that, 28 years later, Ford still does not put them into the Mustang.

Guess they have to save the, say, $10?

They don't have a peddle per se, but they do have a raised area on the driverside footwell. Some have a carpeted areas and some of the older models did have a plastic "pedal"
