ShelbySnake
I just got back from Nurburgring where I had the pleasure to ride along with Sabine in her Porsche 997 RSR. The Porsche is a true race machine and her driving is out of this world. We finished the Ring in just over 7 minutes. I have never experienced anything like that. It was an unbelievable rush and I will never forget it. It is one thing to go fast in a straight line but to haul a** through blind curves and going airborne in the process is another thing entirely. This car was completely void of any comfort items. I bet it was probably 3000lbs or less. She was running pure slicks and the suspension and handling of the Porsche was something I have never experienced before. Here are a couple of pics. I'm planning on taking it on the Ring very soon. There are so many fast cars running the track it becomes very intimidating. I will post some more pics when I run the Shelby. Thanks... GAFSoldier
Don't be scaryt to drive her there but drive first some rounds with her slow. The Nurburgring have some bad places. I have kill there 2 of my first cars because i was thinking i be good and i know the Ring. Are you a Soldier? If yes what is your Base there? I was 7 Years in Buchel AFB before they send me to the US. This Base is near the Nurburgring. Oh by the way they have some Driver Classes there to learn to drive fast cars. They are really good and after this you can handle every street in Germany!
Son of GT
Sabine is an awesome driver. She knows the Ring like most know their daily commute route. She was on Top Gear a couple of times last year, and the only person that spanked her (on the track) was the Stig. And if you believe the You Tube video that's posted of the Stig finally being revealed, he is/was Michael Schumacher, and if that's true, then she should not have any embarassment loosing to him what so ever. I would love the opportunity to drive the Ring at least once in my lifetime.

I'm in the Army. I'm based in Landstuhl which is close to Ramstein AFB. I'm located roughly 90 min from Nurburgring. I have seen a military base between Cochem and Nurburgring. I assume this is Buchel AFB I'm thinking about taking a couple of courses. This is one of company that seems to be very good. http://www.fahrer-training.de/ Here is a video from the company. http://www.race-training.com/videos/video-fahrertraining.wmv
MikeCMM
Hopefully I'll be heading back to Deutschland in April 2010. I'd love to take a ride with Sabine on the ring but I don't think I'll have the time. You're one lucky guy!

I had the training with "ADAC" it is the German version of "AAA". They have many places around Germany for this and they teach you first with a car from them and then they give you a special training on your own car. How long you will stay in Germany? Maybe we can meet then there. I will bringe my car over next year in March!

I know that I had see last year on YouTupe sombody driving on the Ring with a stock GT500 and he did really good! Congrats!! It is truly once in a lifetime to drive the ring, I took this course a few years ago: http://www.fsznuerburgring.de/ and it was outstanding. full day on the training ground (water course, skidpad, instructor controlled skidplate etc), then we learned the F1 track section by section, I then took some laptime on the Nordsleif before I left. We just squeaked under 10m on our first lap ever (there was time to make up for sure), so we were very happy, was driving a Volvo V70R wagon (with luggage) I picked up on Euro Delivery. Nothing stateside comes close to the Ring, its just an amazing experience, Im sure the well driven Shelby would be respectable, be mindful of the stock brakes, they have short limit due to heat, and think only the weight would hold it back from serious numbers, but my guess would be in the mid to low 8 min. range....
