Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone has done any changes on the their KR... ? My thought was will it devalue or increase the value? Will it look tacky (not belong) or look ok for the KR? Beside the KR upgrade (I wouldnt mine getting in th future)... I dont see much else to get except for 20's for show and window tinting and maybe the KR banner for the windsheild... Does anyone have any thoughts on this...? Like you all I am a proud owner of this KR ride!!! Dont want to mess it up :) Please post some pics

Being such a special car, I can't see doing anything major. All I've done so far is the sequential tail lights and the fuse box cover.

Oh yeah the sequential tail lights are a nice touch and fuse box. Your right... if anyone wanted to do major changes they should have started with something plain....

I plan on upgrading the supercharger and probably the Griggs suspension but I'll keep all the old parts if it is worth something in 40 years. I REALLY don't see them being very valuable, more than a regular GT500 but not VERY valuable. Look how many you can now buy for under $70k new . . . they can't give 'em away. Several months back there were over 400 available new unsold.

I've done the sequential tail lights, shorty antenna and I have the Redline hood struts, but I'm afraid to put 'em on.

DaveC is trying to convince me to remove my front air splitter and install a $795 Shelby unit so I don't kill the $3-4000 factory one.

I've done the sequential tail lights, shorty antenna...

I've seen that shorty antenna and like the looks, but find it hard to believe that the reception would be even as good as the stock one. How do you like it? I still wish that the car came with the in-windshield antenna like my Navigator.

...I have the Redline hood struts, but I'm afraid to put 'em on.

Amen there. There is no way I'm going to do that. Although some say its ok, no one knows how it will affect the carbon fiber hood years from now. I have to believe it will warp the hood after time.

I understand the reasoning there, but I'm just enjoying my KR as-is. No need to worry about things you can't directly control.

I've been looking for the KR floor mat set, but can't find it anywhere. Do you have, or know of a source for that?

I am in motion now buying a KR .Lets face it, the KR has drop in value way more then a regular GT500 has. Average selling price for a new KR now is 60-70k

I plan on modding it for sure. TVS with other performance upgrades.

I doubt in my lifetime or at least in the next 40-50 years, I would be lucky to get back what I paid for it .

Its a neat car definitely, but value Iam not counting on it. I plan on having fun with it.

I've noticed no difference with the shorty antenna and I live in a hilly area. I was used to driving a car that had a front valance that was always at risk and I manage to keep that one safe. My wife is a bit worried though when she takes it out, she always refused to drive my old Ferrari. I agree, just enjoy the darn car and just keep any pieces you upgrade.

I have already installed the shorty aluminum antenna, the black anodis Shelby fuel door, the aluminum cup holder surround, Shelby trunk and floor mats, the Shelby KR leather armrest, the european rear lights and I'd like to install the 20' Alcoa wheels with upgraded brakes and the 605hp blower...

  • 2 months later...

Reviving this thread...any other mods out there?

My 5 minor mods so far (before she was home even 24 hours):

1- Sequentials

2- Signed Airbag Cover

3- Shorty Antenna

4- SVT valve stem caps

5- Mats (still on the way)

Thinking about: Custom Cover, 20" Alcoa's, Either Upfitter package or Brakes, Kenny Bell, Driveshaft, gauges, KR console cover and more

Not planning on doing anything major. Perhaps solid 1/4 window covers painted body color and also the side mirrors. I purchased a set off eBay awhile back so i'll just have them painted.

Sequential tail lights

Replace the carbon fiber chin spoiler with the plastic one from the GT-500. Don't feel like having a $700 oops with a driveway apron !

One piece driveshaft

I've bought 3 sets altogether, one from Shelby, one from MustangProject.com and one from somewhere else...not sure which ones these came from but they are all about the same quality. They are very easy to install and no wire cutting or splicing whatsoever. EVERY Shelby should have sequentials IMHO. Let me know if you need more info.

What's the story on these?????

Upper and lower to address the wheel hop issue.

As an update I have taken the KR on a track day (the GB Mustang Owner's Club 30th Anniversary & Mustang 45) at Mallory Park in the UK and also sprinted the car here in Jersey.

The tyres and suspension worked extremely well on the track, especially once the Goodyears warmed up. The brake ducts also worked very well, I out-braked many of the other Mustangs on the day.

Sprinting the car is a different proposition, I just couldn't get her to hook. I think I will get a set of 18x10s for the rear and some drag radials for next year.

Verdict - This is an awesome track day car !!
