clark17357
Maybe I am missing something here. Are you anticipating the powder coat to withstand the contact by the brake pads? As to the color of the calipers, neither white nor black but, instead, red (then again I am a little biased). Good luck with this. Looks nice. kahmann
I'm with you on this one, the powder just contaminated the pads, they should be replaced ASAP! I found this out the hard way after installing the EBC 'black zinc' rotors with a new set of Hawk HP+ pads. The squealing was horrible, way worse than any HP+ I've ever heard. After pulling the brakes back apart, I found the black zinc coating embedded in the pads to the point of no repair. I tried sanding the pads back down, but they were junk after only a week or so of use. From now on, I'm staying away from coated rotors or at least getting them lightly turned before installing. I hope you don't have the same issues I ran into. Ken

Each rotor is coated with a silver, shiny military spec zinc dichromate finish to prevent corrosion and maintain the new rotor look. But once I switched to a NEW set of Hawk Pads, the stopping power was back... Drive Safe! 07SGT0547

AstroDan
no problems here, no squeaking or anything like that. Mine were zinc-plated. No problems. Question: Are those front rotors on the correct side? Mine are slanted toward the front, like this.
kahmann
Some (like the Baer rotors) run reversed slots. Some run standard slots. The slots don't dictate which direction you face them. The vanes in the center of the rotors decide which direction you face them. Good question though. Ken
1218shelby
"Just to clear a couple of things up: NO paint will withstand the heat, corrosive environment and environment that powdercoating will. The powdercoat is included in the price as that is part of the entire package that we make these rotors. They come with a lifetime warranty for any cracking, breaking, rusting, etc. They are dimple drilled creating a chamfered pit to decrease the amount of material removed unlike many of our competitors that simply drill through taking too much out which leads to premature rotor wear and cracking. They are also taper slotted so they allow for gasses and material otherwise trapped by regular slotting to escape the rotor surface. The blank is of the highest quality and the veining is specifically designed for the best evacuation of heat from the rotor center. I will GLADLY stack these toe to toe with any of the name brands and see how they fare. We have been working on em for a while now to get them right before they hit the market. Both Jaime (07SGT) and Henry (91 Fox) are both running a set For the 05+ a full set (which includes the rotors and slotting and/or drilling and complete powdercoating) for 499.00 We have these rotors made to order with the most common makes and models stocked and ready to ship within a couple of hours. This is the first in a lineup of our own manufactured products under the new SinSpeed line." - Mark If you guys are interested or got any questions.. call him up.. For my Drums on my truck I used POR-15 I created a new post here called restoration paints, check it out.. Eastwood is the first and the last word in regarding coatings, automotive restoration etc. And yes,, there stuff is concours correct.. They also have a neet little powder coating system for us DIY'ers They also have alot of "New" high temp powders up and to 1000F All you guys would need is the kit, custom colored powder and an old stove from a garage sale! I think going this route would make you money by just the cost savings alone... I would tape off the rotor face during the process, they have high temp tape or just remove the tape before baking.... Link time: One of many High temp colors http://www.eastwood.com/hotcoat-powder-sil...-temp-2-lb.html Powder coating kit: http://www.eastwood.com/catalog/product/vi...it/category/18/ Just browse the site,,you will see what I meen..
