What's your thoughts about the '10 car cover?

So, what's everyone think about the '10 car cover? Seemed like a good idea to begin with, but think I would of been okay without it. I've never used a car cover before. Normally all my toys are covered with thin white bed sheets. The cover reminds me of setting up a big tent in the rain... basically somewhat of a pain. After I took it out of the bag it's impossible to fold. Right now it's stuffed in a zip up bag and I guess I will throw it on over the sheets in the winter?? The problem is that it's fairly large so it's a two man job. I can't get it on the car with out it draggin' on the ground. If it's on the ground picking up dirt/sand what's the purpose of then throwing that on top of your car. It's a nice looking cover, just not very practical unless you plan to store your car for long period of time. I was hoping to be able to use the cover everytime I used the car...it's covered in white sheets.

Did they cut out the rear for the antenna. Is it like the 09' with the snake on the front and Shelby on the back and the snake on the bag?

ah...doesn't sound too good..the one option I chose and I guess it will reside in the corner of the basement. Dang! I was really hoping to get some substantial use out of it. I should have saved my $375 - it just seemed like a good idea at the time I placed my order. Oh well. As long as the "Car" comes with the car cover...I think I'll get over my little mistake.

I would not use it unless you have to

They can and will mar the paint over time because they fit snuggly and the rubbing causes it.

Really shows on black most

With that said, I would make sure its an indoor only cover, that will be softest

Ya, I agree. When winter storage comes I think I will leave the thin sheets on then place the cover over them.

Yup, cut out for antenna.

Do you have any pics? I ordered one with my car. I quess they are supposed to be color matched. Don't know for sure if I'll use it, but at least I have one.

No, not color matched. It's a light grey with a medium sized Cobra snake and, "Shelby" in black print.

unfolded mine enough to see the snake and folded it back up.

Good for extended garaged storage...

Same here, folded up sitting in a bag in my closet.

I thought the cover for the '10 was supposed to have matching stripes?

I ordered it, and am going to use it. Just one more layer of protection from the kids and their bikes and toys.

No matching stripe :( My plan was to use it daily for protection. I think the process of using it daily will cause more damage then good... for me. My car is stored indoors. If you are using this daily it's impossible to put on without it touching the ground.

When the price get's right I will buy one.

  • 2 months later...
My only reason is protection from the kids and their bikes. It will be in garage also. Kids bikes are on other side but kids will be kids.

Any thoughts on just using 1 or2 HIGH Quality Flannel sheets to "lay over" your car?? My car will be in my oversize 2 car garage (where the wife has been banned from entering :happy feet:) I just thought about using the sheets when not in use, as long as they never touch the ground to pick crap up...since there is no rubbing or anything abrasive to touch the car. Of couse the car will have been washed prior. Thoughts???

hey guys,

i'm using a custom one from covercraft. it's their dust top version. It's less expensive then the standard one that comes with the shelby and it is fantastic. it fits the car very well (except for no holes for the antenna???), looks great, and has an excellent build quality.

I probably would have got the shelby car cover, but when I ordered my car I didn't know it was an option.

I bought a custom cover from california car covers, their NOAH fabric. Fits well and has the cobra emblem and GT500 on the front.

Seems like a quaility piece, have to take the antenna off to put the cover on, which is no big deal.
