Our Govrner Sarah Palin Stepping Down

Recommended Posts

OK, so by your standard no one who is holding an office can run for another office. John McCain did the same thing. That doesn't explain why Palin could not finish her term and then run for whatever or not run again. Her term as govenor ends in 2010. That gives her 2 years to campaign. There is something odd about this. I dont see how not finsishing her term as govenor is doing the right thing or saving any money.

Its funny how every thread for you becomes an exercise in Obama bashing.

As far as George Will, he is what I consider a rational, intellegent conservative. He's a no nonsense guy who sees the danger in religious posturing by elected oficials, something that is lost on most of his party. I dont always agree with him, but frequently, I do. He is right about Palin for sure.

Try reading all your posts. Nothing but bashing republicans, Bush, Palin, etc.

McCain did not do the same thing. Obama went off full time campaigning 18 months of his term as senator. Most politicians don't leave their current office that far ahead of time and even when they do start their campaigning they still show up to do the job they were elected to do. Obama QUIT doing his job since he first announced he was going to run. He QUIT showing up for work representing the people that voted him into office.

Now if Palin was like Obama she would not have stepped down and continued to spend most of her time fighting all the liberals attacking her while allowing her State to suffer from her being able to do her job. Instead, unlike Obama, Palin showed class and strong moral values by stepping down so someone else can do the job she could no longer spend all her time on because of the cruel liberals. Liberals are very cruel people!

Ahh, so McCain never went on the campaign trail? He wasnt getting paid while he was? Your facts are suspect. Anyway, the point here is that this is a thread ABOUT Palin, not Obama, so whats Obama got to do with it?

Again I will say, WHY did Palin step down long before her term was up? She cant sign bills and show up for work because "liberals are attacking her"? Really? Every politician gets scrutinized, it goes with the territory. Thats just a excuse, playing the victim. If she was a serious politician she would want to stay in power to further her goals and help people. Thats what they do, critics be damned. She is too concerned about her image, flash over substance. Maybe she is not strong enough to play in the big leagues.

She's not a lame duck, thats a ridiculous statement by her and her whole reasoning to me is senseless. Something odd about the whole thing.

I hope she is planning on running for president; I'm 99% sure that will mean the end of the GOP (and a new moderate party can immerge), but if by some miracle (tragedy) she wins. . . we will get what we deserve if the country is that stupid (won't happen).

I hope she doesn't get her own reality show on TV; there's enough crap on the tube as it is!

The country obviously isn't that smart. The country has already proven how stupid they are. Look at the disaster we have now? We are getting what we desrve now for being so stupid!

"Arent any of you Sarah Palin fans bothered that she is not even finishing her term?"

Were you bothered Obama did not finish his senate term?

Obam QUIT his job 18 months early and spent that time campaigning. He didn't step down and sucked a free paycheck for 18 months, but he was never around to do the job he was elected to do! Not only that, but when he was elected as senator he PROMISED the people of IL that he would NOT seek a higher office before his term was up! So he LIED, then QUIT doing his job as senator, and instead of stepping down so someone else could represent the people of IL for those 18 months, he used that to suck a free paycheck and hang onto his job he wasn't doing in case he lost running for the higher office he promised the people of IL he would not do until after he finished his term as senator!

Now we have Palin who is seeking to do something better, which is interferring with her from doing the job she was elected to do, so she is showing class and strong morals by stepping down from governor so the people of AK can have someone representing them!

So instead of bashing someone that is doing the RIGHT THING, you should look in the mirror at that phony usurper you voted for that is a liar and leach! It is HE that let the people down in IL by lying to them and sucking off their tax dollars while running around the country for 18 months instead of doing the job he was elected to do!

Hey, I was so very proud to pay another ILLINOIS politician a rather large, undeserving salary for doing nothing in office for the BENEFIT OF THE TAXPAYERS...NOT!

If Gov. Sarah Palin steps down to run for a higher governmental position, so be it...Kudos to her. If "THE ONE" who comes from the most politically corrupt state in the country had any concern for the U.S. taxpayers, he would've refunded his salary and apologized for his greed. But wait, he's no different than all the other dirty, self-serving loons this state has produced and actually endorses!!! Anybody here want to talk about "ghost payrolling"???

Sad day, the lady steps down, most likely becasue of all the lies and deciet proagated by the left wing wacos and you think its funny. I see no hope for America any longer. Democrats will do anything for power, they lust it so they can control your every move. And they will try. When they finnaly think they can set aside the second amendment, thats when normal non-political Americans will wake up. They wont stand for it. And the shooting will begin. It will be a sad day for America and Im not sure how it will turn out.

So sad how that awful, awful media upset her to the point of quitting her job..

DAMN GOOD THING she's not running this country! So many mean people out there...would make her cry

Whatever.

Sarah Palin: Out, but not down

You betcha Sarah Palin is still a viable presidential candidate! Even though the governor of Alaska dropped the bombshell last week that she was leaving her post, a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds that her support among Republicans is still strong. In fact, her resignation seems to have even slightly boosted her among GOP constituents.

According to the nationwide poll, close to 67% of Republicans want Palin to be "a major national political figure" in the future. And 71% of them say they would likely vote for her if she ran for president in 2012.

Top Republican consultant Mary Matalin called Palin's move "brilliant," and conservative talk-show host Bill Bennett went on CNN to discuss the surprisingly high number of viewers who called into his show in support of Palin's decision.

"To political pros [Palin's resignation] may be a problem. To the base, I'm not sure it's a problem at all," Bennett told CNN.

Hey CA boy. Explain exactly what the benefit of these groups are for that the State of CA pays for???

Some of these Boards I've never heard of. All these people are being paid by the State of California.

Why do we need them, where did they come from? I wonder just what they all do?

INTERESTING - thought you'd like to know about this mess...no wonder no one can get ahead these days!

Do you not think CALIFORNIA has room in the state to make cuts to help we the people out of our 23+ Billion dollar hole?

Somewhere in this list of all of the State agencies there should be a few dollars to cut...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The former fiance of Gov. Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter says he thinks he knows why the Alaska governor is resigning — concerns over money.

Levi Johnston, 19, whose wedding to Bristol Palin was called off earlier this year, says he believes the governor is resigning over personal finances.

Johnston says he lived with the Palin family from early December to the second week in January. He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, including a reality show and a book.

"I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars," said Johnston, who has had a strained relationship with the family but now says things have improved.

Palin has a book deal, but compensation details haven't been disclosed. The governor has said she is facing more than $500,000 in legal fees.

"It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Palin family spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton said in an e-mail to The Associated Press.

Johnston made his comments at a news conference Thursday at the office of his attorney, Rex Butler.

Johnston came forward, Butler said, because Alaskans want to know why Palin has decided to resign. She made the announcement last Friday.

Johnston also is pursuing his own book deal. He is working as a carpenter while also pursuing a movie deal.
