427 Cammer
I use Motorcraft 5W-20 Premium Sythetic Blend, also. No problems with it. 2nd oil change for my SGT, I change oil and filter every 5000 miles. My Bronco II has 285,000 miles on the 2.9L and the engine has never needed to be opened up. I changed that oil every 5000 miles also with Valvoline regular 10w-40 conventional high detergent and it still runs, the body is crap but it runs. Phil Williamsport, Pa. Frank S
My opinion, based on received wisdom and interpretations of the various studies: any oil that meets Mr Ford's requirements per the owner's manual will be fine and good. I believe it is worthwhile to change to a (any major brand) full synthetic. The Purple and Ams products probably won't hurt anything but your pocketbook. Any improvements in lubricity or "cling" offered at premium prices may be real, but not significant in actual use. Think about your polished intake passages. Increments in flow rate might be measurable, but are proportionally within production-tolerance bandwidth, in actual effect. It's good for your mind to know they are there, though. Same with expensive oil. I'm a former Castrol apostle, now specifying the dealer's best full synthetic.
ilmor
After my warranty expires, I'm going with Mobil 1. Which oil is better is a debate with no ending.
stormeaston
Mobile 1 is good stuff, I think they're all good to tell the truth, but I use Royal Purple for years just because it looks kool, and they always sponser the Hot Rod Power Tour so WTH. 07SGT4578
I use motorcraft 5-20 from the ford lot. Change it every 6 months or after long trips. The odometer reads 9,986.3 have changed the oil 4 times. Chris
kahmann
RedLine full synthetic oil in my engine, transmission, and rear end. If you track your car, I highly recommend a high quality synthetic. RedLine has always been great for my cars. Ken
RiverRunner
I use mobile 1 also. I use it in all of our gassers and have been for almost 20 years with good results. Dang, I gotta get me a hot chick to stand next to our car for a good signature pic.
shelbytexan
The corvette and viper recommend mobil 1 and they are certainly high-performance engines. I use mobil 1 but just about any synthetic will do. Mobil 1 and royal purple are probably the most popular. Whatever you use in your daily driver should be sufficient but be sure to go with the manufactures weight. I change oil once a year but i only drive 2500 to 3000 miles per year.I change mine because of the age more than the mileage.

I have 1396 miles on my '08, but have had it for 13 months now and planning to get my first oil change soon. Planning to use Mobil 1 and the Ford Racing Filter (which is what came on it stock from Shelby). For those of you who use the Ford racing filter, were you able to get it through your dealer, did you order it through SPP or somewhere else? The model in the SPP catalog is $15. Lucky 2
I had my first oil change on my 2007 Shelby GT at 1864 miles. I didn't like the fact that the factory oil had been in her for so long (time not miles). I used 5w20 Motorcraft with a Ford Racing filter. I have been using Mobile1 in my other cars but went with the owners manual with this one.

gbstang
I used to go through Blue oval industries for parts, too many times I have placed an order from those guys and never get a email saying something is on back order etc. Since I am in Korea, it could take up to 6-8 weeks to receive stuff. My last order I placed with them I sent an email after 6 weeks of waiting, to get tracking info etc and that is when they said they did not ship my parts due to back order (I had to call them!). I would think those guys would have the courtesy to at least inform the customer during the order process that the item is not instock, alot of reputable sites do, these guys just take your money for the parts and then they don't even send a courtesy email. I will not do business with them as they do not answer emails etc, the only communication is if you call them.. Bad business.. I will go with Ford or other better businesses, like JBA, Ford etc.
Rex B
I'd be careful using a racing filter. Wix makes as good a racing filter as anyone, but they will tell you it's a low-restriction design for racing. Their regular filter does a better job of filtering. As for oil, I use generic synthetic once I determine who makes it. Right now I'm using Parts Plus full synthetic, which is made by Valvoline. The Valvoline people assure me it's the exact same product, without the advertising expenses. It costs only a little more than name-brand conventional oil. Most other store-brand synthetics are likely made by Valvoline. I use 10W30 for the added cushion, and change it at 5000. But the oil brand debate has been going on since I was a small boy.
