StokedShelbyOwner
Sigh, I ate at the Cafe 3 times, now I wish it had been 300 times IIRC Crispy managed to catch about zero of his cakes, admittedly, it was tough to do under pressure
azmartin
I am glad my father and I had a chance to spend some time there. We had great time at the cafe, lots of good food, fun, friendly people, most of all some good memories. I bought a few things for keepsakes. We took a lot of pics. Hope it recovers when the economy gets better, was a nice touch after the tour. Sure going to miss it.

John Canfield
I heard this morning that Mustang Sallys in Las Vegas also closed it doors. I'd never been there, either, but a friend of mine who was parts of the MAA tour did and sent me photos of that as well as the Corner Cafe. I hope once this so-called economy turns around, some of these great concepts can be resurrected, as it should be.
HbgCoach
It truly is sad & a sign of the times. I work for the #2 Home Improvement Store in the U.S. Our sales havebegun a downturn just this week. Here in PA. ; it is a combination of a damp rainy spring, & the rising price of gasoline. I have also seen a string of cancellations to cruises, & Car Shows. May God bless our nation; & restore better times to us all...-Coach

Blown Away
That's a real shame. My wife & I ate there the Monday after the 427 race, after the tour of course. We were sitting in the back room when the waitress found out that Carroll & family were on their way there. We tried to eat as slowly as possible just to be able to git a glimpse of him, but... we had to head on back to home. I didn't get any souvenirs because I figured "next time". Now I know better. I do hope they are able to re-open at a later date.

But I do know what the FIRST Meal served was... <-------- Robert, please pass along my thoughts and a sincere "THANKS" to Teri (sp?) and her crew of waitresses and kitchen staff... John Canfield
Please disregard my earlier post about the closing of Mustang Sallys in Vegas. The person who gave me than infomation has been properly disciplined by making him drive a Yugo from here on out... I'm still bummed about the Cafe. Really bummed...pass this along to the decision makes, I'm sure they'll their minds
AFBLUE
Maybe it could be reopened on special occassions, or just have it open 1 day/week to reduce cost. Just a thought...
David Hawkins
Maybe it could be reopened on special occassions, or just have it open 1 day/week to reduce cost. Just a thought... I understand your thinking but......... Finding people who would work just one day a week there would be extremely hard plus the Paper work for them would be a huge pain. Then you have to work out the deliveries of the Food. Most food served at small restaurants dont hold up for that long in a cooler. You cant freze it because it takes to long to thaw it, etc......... BUT......maybe they could go to just Lunches only, provided the Overhead is not to bad. Overhead is always a Business Killer.

39Mustang
I don't know all of the details, however, I wanted to let everyone know who is planning a trip to SAI that effective today at 3:00pm (18 June), the Shelby Cafe has closed their doors. Disappointing as the Cobra Burger is by far the best Burger I've ever had!!! However, very bad location to begin with. Maybe some day it'll reopen at one of the Casino's? Slabo
Wow, this is some sad news. I just eat there on Tuesday with my family during the drop-off for my 40th package. I had no idea it would be the last week it was open. The place was full up. We ran into Dan (MY500SS) which was cool! The food was great. My kids really liked the chili. Well, I am glad I got to experience the place before it closed.
twobjshelbys
This is a major bummer. The food was always good and the service prompt. There were always soldiers from Nellis AFB there; now they'll have to find a new place. Will it reopen some time? P.S. Sign me up for a set of the placemats. NordicShelby
I can't imagine they closed due to lack of business because the times I was there they were packed but I guess it was during events so they should have been packed. I hope all the employees find another job soon.
Flyingbadgers2001
Oh Man!? Im glad my dad and I had a chance to visit there. We had a great time there in February. The food was sooo good! I had the Shelby GT Burger and my dad (I think) had the Terlingua burger. Man what a freakin bummer.

I see where you Started this Thread at 1:27AM and it has yet to show up at the other Two Shelby Forums............ What gives.................... I am starting to think there is something fishy going on here. Come on, fes up. Has ANYONE gone by there to see if it has actually closed?
robertlane
It comes down to this: Tourism is down in Nevada between 20-30% and business occupancy in the immediate area surrounding Shelby is down 60%. Aside from the Cafe reopening, there are possible plans to franchise the Cafe outside of the Las Vegas area.
