mblgjr
For those of you that have GT500's and know you have the "early" style flywheel...how many of you have either: A ) Had the TSB done out of necessity B ) Have some mileage on the car, stock or modded and do NOT have any issues. Please post which of these two categories you fall into. Very interested to see if this is a widespread issue, or for those that really USE the clutch (read: Slip) and get it hot, thus overheating the flywheel, eventually causing shifting issues. Thanks! Def. sounds like you need to have it done. You're better off to buck up and do it than keep going and damage the trans/synchros more than they are. How many miles do you have? Modded or not? Stop/go driving/inner city or weekend toy? Any track time? Thanks!
brianspony
I have a very early 2007 built on 8-30-06 with just over 10,000 miles. Mine is going in tomorrow morning to Tasca for a full TSB repair. Symptoms: 1.) Clutch chatter in both first and reverse which has gotten to a severe stage. 2.) With clutch pedal all the way to floor you can hear continued hissing noise. 3.) Hard notchy shifting 1st to 2nd, 4th to 5th, 3rd to 2nd, and 2nd back to 1st. From the very first day I took delivery there was always some clutch chatter, but I learned to compensate. Last summer I realized the more I drove the car the more I had to continue to compensate. Also from the first day whenever it was cold until the car had a chance to warm up it was always hard to shift it from 1st to 2nd. Now it's hard to shift cold or hot and no longer just going from 1st to 2nd. I almost have to force shifting it and you feel the notchy crunching in the shifter's handle while shifting. The shifter locked up once last summer to where I had to come to a complete stop before I was able to work the shifter free. If I remember correctly I was going from 2nd to 3rd when it locked on me. That was about the same time as I began to hear the hissing noise continue long after pushing the clutch pedal all the way down. The part that bothers me the most besides leaving my Shelby anywhere but my garage for several days is reading all the continued issues people are having after their TSB repairs. I hope to be one of the lucky one's and be completely pleased after the work is done this week. I believe with what I hear Tasca is the best dealership in my area to have the work done. They are the first authorized mod shop for the new Shelby's and work on these cars a lot.

I don't slip the clutch; I only get on it hard after I am already at a roll...mine had the 1-2 grind right from new; especially when going up hill under load and shifting. Mine had 6 km on it when I got it so highly doubt it is anything the dealership did to it in pre-delivery. It is in getting the TSB done right now along with a few other goodies. Nothing to fear. If it is done properly, the results are incredible. I can't believe what a difference it makes.

Very pleased with the difference. The car drives so much better, even with my stock 3.31 gears. Its all about a good mechanic who takes his time and is focused to do the job correct the first time. tcaramucci
Just had mine done, an 07 with 10k miles. What a diffrence, it is like a new car. Relizes it needed to be done whne I could not get the car in gear 50 % of the time as well as you would hit the gas pedal and it would not ingage right away. SicShelby
I had my TSB done at about 15,000 miles, after the symptoms became rather obvious (hiss, difficulty shifting, etc.). This is going to be an eventual issue for the '07/'08 models, keep in mind....
