and was offered $20,000 at Friendly Ford and $17,500 at Chapman Dodge. Looks like I am going to have to sell it myself. I hate to let it go, but I can't afford it anymore.

Anyone have an idea about how much I should ask for it private sale? It's a 2007 White 5 speed, with the Shaker 1000. Approximately 7200 miles on it.

I just looked up new 08 Shelby GT. Those now have a $6,000 Rebate!!!!

One with a MSRP of $40,685 could be had for $32,417 at invoice minus rebate. I have seen dealers offering to take $2000 off invoice just to get rid of these. That would be $10k off a new 08 at a $2,000 loss.

This is definitely the best time to buy these cars, but the worst time to have to sell them. Right now with the economy it is a buyer's market. KR's going for invoice, GT500's for invoice minus $1500 - $3000. This is killing the resale values on used right now.

That's at a dealer right??? Geez I hope so.

At a dealer? It makes no difference. Dealer, private party, it is what it is.

If you can buy new 08's at around $30k - $32k, how much would someone pay for a used 07? $24k - $25k would be strong selling it for retail.

Once the economy recovers, and the fact they are no longer making the Shelby GT, those may be the ones that will have strong resale values in the distant future. But right now nothing is selling good and everything is being sold at bargain prices. Just look at what some of the people here are saying they just bought a new GT500 for!

Sorry to hear that you have sell it, you got to do what you got to do bit try carmax...good luck.

I would list it on EBAY, you can set a reserve price on what you need to get out of, if it dosent sell, its free to relist it and you can always change your reserve, Good Luck ...enjoy it while you have IT, Ken

I didn't know new '08's were 32k. WOW!

Seems like prices are dropping every day.

I wouldn't put much hope with ebay. over 95% of cars listed do not sell. It isn't free to relist. If it doesn't sell the second time you still pay. If it DOES sell the second time then you don't pay another listing fee, just a final value fee.

The best place is probably autotrader.com and cars.com. You can list it for one fee and keep it listed until it sells.

On autotrader.com get the deluxe listing for $54. You can run it until it sells and load up to 18 photos.

On cars.com get the Premium for $45. You get 60 day listing with free renewals until it sells, up to 12 photos and a money back guarantee.

I sell more cars off autotrader and cars.com than any other source.

I just did a nationwide search on cars.com for 07 Shelby GT. There is about 45 listed. They are priced from $26,500 to $34,998.

The one for $26,500 has 12k miles. Another one has 4,535 miles listed for $26,995. These are asking prices.

They have a lot of GT500's listed as well. From $35,750 with 13,761 miles, one with 8,275 miles listed for $35,900 all the way up to $77,000 for a 07 with 38 miles. LOL

One GT500 with 7,000 miles listed for only $59,900 LOL

One GT500 with only 750 miles listed for $63,988 LOL

I think someone forgot to tell these people to watch the news once and awhile so they can realize we are in a depression now! LOL

Sorry to hear of your problems. I've been there and can tell you it does get better and one day, if you want, you can buy another.

When I was going through similar financial problems I had to sell a car ebay! I had a beautiful 92, perfect, Lexus SC400 with 45K mi on it after 11 years. The dealer offered me nothing for it in trade or buy out. I put in on ebay and it sold in a week to a guy in PA that flew out paid cash and drove it home! I got twice what the dealer offered me. Now maybe I'm an exception, and this car was different, but it does work.

Good luck!

I have bought and sold cars at CarMAx. It's easy to sell a car there, but they will give you even less than the dealer. Try it out and see, its free and no obligation

The way things are going with major stores closing down along with dealerships sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on. I found out today that all Sear repair shops are closing in my area so any warranty work has to be shipped out major headache for owners of there equipment. In my neighborhood there are forclosures eveywhere, I don't think the economy is going to bounce back anytime soon.

People have been caught even burning there cars !!!

If you can, maybe refinance it? Might drop the payment a hundred or more per month. We did that when we were having financial troubles. Ended up adding a couple years to get it paid off, but we saved over $100 a month on payments and didn't cost any fees to refinance it.

It's even worse for dealers now.

I'd do whatever I could to hang on to it, till the market changes for the better.

Gentlemen,

With the current reincarnation of Karl Marx in the White House, it's probably going to be a long wait. Everything I own, from my business to my home to my cars, is worth 50% of what it was worth two years ago. This is not normally a cause for great concern as markets rise and fall. In this case however, as the very foundations of our nation's prosperity are being ripped to shreds and businessmen like me have canceled all plans for expansion while we endure these ugly socialist threats, I don't see anything coming back much during the next four years. Batten down the hatches, and do your best to survive. Live to fight another day and hope this nation comes to its senses.

Chip - Yes he has made huge mistakes and only the wise see it. My business, both territories, even with national ties and industry strong holds is worth 50% of what is was 2 years ago. My property, home and all other asset too are the same. Chip your knowledge again is next to none, I second the motion: batten down the hatches and save your self and your family and your most trusted employees. And we'll all live to fight another day, of course after my new interior is installed! :happy feet:

You posted this stuff in here before in another thread and I let it go...let's not make a habit of it and save this political junk for the off topic forum.

Thanks!

Chip, how do you reverse socialism once entrenched. Once the supreme court is packed with socialist judges. Once the illegals are given amnesty and you have 15 million more democrat votes. How do you pay for the trillions that have been "charged" and we not only have to repay but with interest. I fear the country may already be lost. Once people find out they can vote themselves a raise you will never be able to take it back. And obviously the liberals do not see the evil they have supported.
