David Hawkins
I thought they figured out that 65/70 MPH gives more MPG then 55 MPH..........

That's interesting... currently in Ohio it is 65, and they were talking yesterday about upping it!! Hopefully it doesn't become 55 because... I... can't drive... 55? Giving the fact this admin are Enviro radicals (or Nazis, however you want to put it) just seems like a logical step for them to attempt. Plus think about the revenue it would generate for the cash strapped governments. In TX they have lowered some 70's to 65 in non-attainmnet areas (around Dallas and Houston and other places) to try and help with "air pollution". stump_breaker
I thought they figured out that 65/70 MPH gives more MPG then 55 MPH.......... Not necessarily. In all my vehicles not driving over 55 will dramatically improve gas mileage. Remember how the EPA had to re-evaluate their testing procedures on vehicle fuel mileage to meet with current speed limits and driving conditions? In nearly all cases I have looked at, the mileage dropped. Even in my old 1996 Saturn SL1 which was originally rated at 40mpg under the old standards, it went down to 36 under the new. God knows I'm not arguing for a 55 mph limit though. Bleah!

Hopefully it doesn't become 55 because... I... can't drive... 55? Here in Utah, they raised the limit from 75 to 80 in the outlying roads away from population areas on the Interstates. Because of the long distances, people always drove at leats 80-85 anyway. Beacuse of budget cuts, the UHP didn't have the time or manpower to enfore 75 anyway. With my automatic SGT in overdrive and the cruise set at 82-83, I get mileage in the mid 20's which surprises me. Around town I get about 2, withn all of my quick starts from lights
RUFDRAFT
Go to: https://www.annualcreditreport.com For more info, and to avoid scams, go to: http://www.ftc.gov/freereports I thought they figured out that 65/70 MPH gives more MPG then 55 MPH.......... Not in my car. I get 3-4 mpg less at 65 than I do at 55.

What's really bizarre to me is that in Dallas and Houston it seems to me that for the most part people obey the speed limits. I've driven in both places and was shocked that I was doing the limit and nobody was passing me. In Florida if the limit is 65 and you are doing 75 it is nothing for people to tailgate you and honk the horn for you to get out of their way because they are doing 90-100. Especially in South Florida. Those people are certifiably insane there.

RUFDRAFT
Well yeah. What you call a state we would call a city! Ah, the old "over compensation complex." Very sad. "Don't with Texas!" Indeed. As if cowboy boots mean something!
69dejavue
Lets look at the new democrat formula. Lower speed limit to 55. Save fuel. Consequently less fuel sold. Consequently less gasoline taxes collected. Need more taxes. Raise taxes on something else.

Way to, uhhhh.... ....I really don't know what you were trying to say or do. That must be some of that stuff like humor only different. Or maybe there may be a weak attempt at an insult in there somewhere.
