I think the Camaro is just as attractive a car in the "retro style" sense as the Mustang. I even considered one when I got the GT500 as I've had a LONG line of GM cars prior to the GT500.

(96 Z28/SS, '00 Camaro SS, '01 C5 Vette, '05 C6 Vette -and 3 Suburbans for my wife while I was driving those-)

That said, WhoTF told them thatputting that God awful bodykit on Camaro would be a good idea? :headscratch: Some people just can't leave well enough alone. lol

My $0.02 worth, YMMV.

Size-wise, they seemed roughly the same, but with the FRPP springs mine was definitely lower. That body-kit - well that does make the car seem a lot "chunkier" for sure. I have to say too though, the car did look better "in the flesh" than in pics.

Another couple shots...

When I look at a new mustang 05-08 or the new Challenger I can see modern versions of the classics. I look at that new Camaro and think, what the hell is that. I think Chevy missed bigtime

on this one. The throwback look would have worked for them just like it did for Ford and Dodge.

To each his own I guess and I'm in trouble on this one because my wife absolutely loves that thing.

Could you tell if the Camaro was larger than the Mustang? The front air dam looks higher off the ground.

I do like the stripes.

I spent a lot of time up close to the Camaro checking it out, which is why I am buying a GT500. It actually looks larger outside than the Mustang, but feels smaller inside. I would call it poor ergonomics caused by an attempt to be too gimmicky. Not a bad car for the price, but left me feeling like it was designed for teenagers (think Mitsu Eclipse). Nice Pics.

That's funny. On the way home the other night we spotted a new camaro and my wife said, "I really like that car", I said "Cool" the new camaro will be a chick car. GT500's are for men.

I was with my wife in our 500 and spotted a yellow camaro (I prefer the incorrectly spelled 'camero' as so many like to type) at a local dealership. We pulled into the lot and parked next to it, with my car left to idle. The salesmen didn't dare come out and instead stood and watched me from behind the glass. I think the KR mufflers kind of intimidated them - seriously. Anyway, I immediately noticed that the piss yellow paint job didn't match the yellow on the front wrap around bumper or the circular sheetmetal gas cap cover. My wife asked me why they were so different in color. I replied that most won't notice, and that the rest will overlook it and just be content that the car ever made it to production.

I think the body pays a proper modern tribute to the original. I also think the interior looks absolutely horrible. I look forward to seeing how well the IRS handles multiple drag type launches and how long it takes before Chevy owners, once again, turn to the 9" Ford.

I wonder if they have designed the wheel hop out of it?

I continue not to get it. I've considered buying a Z06 as a stable mate for the GT500, but these new Camaros just don't do it for me, but then again I have all my teeth and have never had a mullet. I finally have to admit that I'm just a die hard Mustang fanatic, I've owned just about everything and keep coming back to my first love.

I knew that didn't look right when I typed it

My wife just look at this and said....I don't like it! I don't like the front. It looks like a dodge. Looks like one of those dodge avenger things! LOL

I like the way this one looks. Is that all factory or was that modified? I see a lot of resemblance to the 68, 69 body style.

If I could I wouldn't mind having a GT500, Challenger and Camaro.

I only wish Dodge would have made the Charger retro like the 69 - 70 Charger. THAT would have been a smashing hit! They really missed the boat on that one.

There is a red RS on the lot here in my little town, I was told that it couldn't be sold off the lot until the 6th.....its still sitting there. I really don't think they are "ugly" per say...I kinda like them really, not as much as 07 thur 09 500's. I just want to start seeing them on the street so I can crush them...lol

Oh....and lets not all forget just how HORRIBLE those F bodies were, talk about a bad rear end... :barf: even the Firechickens were ugly behemoths.. :nonono:

Don't know that I had taken a good look at the back of that thing until these pics......and you guys think the 2010 Mustang is ugly! Geez, that's huge! Got a red RS on dealer lot here too, mildly impressed. Gets lots of attention......but it's short-lived, I'm afraid. Don't look like it'd get 36 mpg to me.....even with a mullet!

Camaro is OK in my book, but they went a little to far with the "futuristic" look...or at least that's what I call it. FWIW the Challenger is the best looking car on the planet. Love my GT500, and I'll smoke any SRT8 that dares challenge me, but damn if it don't look awesome. I like the simple-ness of the GT500 compared to the Camaro...

I got to look at one up close this past weekend when the local Government Motors dealer had one out front.

I'd only seen them in print, and when you see one "live" your opinion usually changes...except, my changed for the worse, the interior...ugh...rear end, and side honches (big flat sections over the rear wheel at base of rear window pillar...ugh...hard to see in pics, but see on live, and you'll know what I mean...and the front...ugh...waaaaayyy to futuristic...but hey just my opinion!

But here's the topper, :hysterical3: it is the 6 banger RS, and the dealer has the sack to actually have a 8k ADM on the auto-box 6 banger... :hysterical: 38k for a 6cyl autobox with NO "special features" of limited run....good one, that's funny
