JeffIsHereToo
News to me also. Did the repair order show a TSB or recall number? Steve Humm... JeffIsHereToo
Does that also require removing the tires and then rebalancing the wheels? They removed them and also rotated, it was time, but they did not talk about balancing and I did a good drive after and all seemed fine.
Stalwart
Does that also require removing the tires and then rebalancing the wheels? If they don't spin the tires with refrence to the wheels, then no.
socalwrench
If the tire was removed and re-installed on the wheel- I would strongly recommend re-balancing it. However, he is correct that if the tire is kept at the same position on the wheel- if does need to be balanced. Keep in mind though, that we are talking about ounces when it comes to balancing a tire and wheel. So, if you drive your car at high speeds, you want the best balance possible. I know the tire was not removed. They let some air out and replaced the stem, at least that's what they said! I took the car out on the highway after and as I said it felt fine. shelbymotorsports
Well I found this about defective Chinese sourced valve stems used on 2007 Ford's but I'm not sure how they replaced them on your car without removing the tires. If the tires were definitely not removed it sounds like they might be "working" the Ford warranty program. Unless there is some new way of installing valve stems that I'm not aware of. http://blogs.internetautoguide.com/6310776...ssue/index.html Steve

They took the wheels off, took them over by the machine used to balance the tires, and played with them, one buy one, took forever, and then put them back on the car. I lust looked at them and they look brand new to me but what do I know!
DDT
They suppose to mark the tire at the valve stem location for referance location to assure same position upon installing back on the same weels.............

They would need the machine for this but wouldn't have to actually remove the tire from the wheel. Since they removed the wheels from your car it now sounds like everything was on the up&up. Wonder what year cars used the Chinese valve stems? Steve
tekheavy
There is no TSB related to the valve stems for an 07.

JeffIsHereToo
There is no TSB related to the valve stems for an 07. Well...what ever it is, I don't think they would have done it for free if there wasn't something from Ford telling them so and it says "Recall" on the receipt. Maybe it's a tire manufacturer recall? They said you bend the stem and look for cracks in the rubber.

mikewheels
Now you can add the valve stems to the dry wall, baby bottles, dog food, etc., that our friends the Chinese are trying to kill us with. Makes me wonder what's next.

zdle
FYI: My dealer told me there was a recall on the valve stems for the 07' not sure about the 08'. He replaced them. I hadn't heard of that one before so if I missed it sorry for the redundant post otherwise FYI! -Jeff Ya , when Jason Cenor was still at Superformance he changed my stock SGT wheels to 20" Razors to accomadate the 14" Shelby Baer Brake Rotors, I think someone used the stock valve stems , and was not careful the way tou would NEED to be with Chinese Valve Stems ,,,,any way few hundred miles later I blew out the right front at 80 mph between Los Alamos Ca, and Santa Maria on Hwy 101.................car was stable and no damage got it tor the shoulder quick to save the Razor Wheel , and called AAA......................the valve stem was just cut half thru........I use the best I can find now......................ZDS
