wmoore
I believe I read the computer shuts you down at 154 for both N/A and SC cars. I'm sure someone out there knows for sure.

I think you are correct. I have had mine at 149 it took a few miles to get it there. I thought I also read you can remove the 154 limit by reprogramming it

James Hill
I had mine up to 150, then ran out of road (7 miles goes by fast at that speed). It felt like it had some more in her, but I don't think much more was there.

fatboy
ive got to 105 but the road was too bumpy for this type of suspension. and some idiot in a Tundra was tryin to race me. so i let him go by and i just followed him and rode his bumper till we got to a part of the road that had some stinkin dirt on it and it was gettin thrown all over my car and i had to back away from him. i shoulda kept following him to the river bridge and skunk his a$$ from the stoplight, but i let him go so he would go home to his wife and tell her how macho he was for keepin up with me.... on a crummy road. besides i had a tundra once...i know this shelby could run circles around it. and i only had 200 miles on it...wasnt broken in yet. didnt want to blow some stupid ring or somethin. and i wasnt used to the car yet either. arkansas roads suck

WHen you get the chance you really should get it up to at least 140 thats when life really begins. The first time I got it beyond 140 it felt like I was flying I had never been in a car before going that fast, it really gets your adreniline going. Yeah I learned the hard way about rock chips I would have done the same thing you did and not take any chances on destroying your front end plus if you only had 200 miles on it then yes it would have been really silly to have raced anybody. Dread
Only been up to 135 mph tryin ta save money to upgrade the brakes before doin anything more... not to mention it is kinda difficult to find a good stretch of highway without a trooper on it around here...they're everywhere
James Hill
I can be a real problem finding a road. I am lucky here. We have a strech of I84 that goes for 8 miles, guardrails both sides cause its right next to the Columbia River so its impossibe for a trooper to sit anywhere. Even if they did, you could see them plenty early.
stump_breaker
I hit 140 with the stock gears. I have not tried to top out the 4.10's yet and probably wont. With that being said 120 comes up quick, fast and in a hurry with the new gears and tune and there seems to be plenty left to go! The gears help to compensate for "the wall" you hit from the mustangs aerodynamics, or lack thereof maybe I should say.
mywickedshelby
the only thing usable is up to roughly 130-135-138.....after that the acceleration and pick up of the remaining speed available is so gradual you probably could only take advantage of it in Bonneville or a road with such long uniterrupted straights. and yes 120 does come up pretty quick. I would be interested to know how it affects your top speed. I only took the speed to the top once, had to know what it would do. In all reality, most of the time in the car is in the first three gears.

Too bad you arent closer, I would let you take her for a spin, I always drove in 4th on the hwy unless I was on a really long trip cause 5th was a dead gear, no longer, cruise in 5th, the punch is there when you need it. I drove her to Dearborn last year and am planning to go back this year and Volo in June.......4.10s are the way to go IMO.

In all reality, most of the time in the car is in the first three gears. 4.10's will make 5th a pulling gear instead of an OD gear. 3rd is still a sweet gear but way more aggressive. Grabbing 3rd at about 65 mph to pass traffic will give you wood the first couple of times. 2450-2500 at 70mph BTW..
fatboy
we need an autobahn here in the states....just one road that goes from one coast to another without a speed limit or at least one through the midwest where its flat as hell.

ejrail
Just before I hit 3K miles, I got up to 125. I wasn't willing to go faster until I felt like it was broken in longer. I know there was more in there :happy feet: I-80 west from Salt Lake to Wendover is famous for high speed runs as the western end is on the edge of the Salt Flats . The UHP doesn't have enough troopers to patrol the whole thing. It is so flat in spots out there that the radar detector can see for miles and miles. I am entered in a car show and have at least two concerts to attend in Wendover in the next few months. I have turned 4.5K by now so I'll keep you posted or be asking for bail and impound fees

mywickedshelby
How do the 4.10s affect quarter miles times? I would guess a couple of tenths... I only raced once, the last 3 times we got rained out. My 60 foot times were like 2.2....and I ran 13.7....thats how they run stock with the 3.55s hey it was my first time, cut me some slack, street tires, spun them a couple of times..... now a couple of guys said my 60 foot times should be 1.8 (no spinning tires).....which would put me in the 13.3 range....... I am certainly not the measuring stick for any seasoned racer.....like I said it was my first time.

shelbytexan
410's-373's,same price - different performance. The 373's are to close to stock to make it worth changing. It's been said several times on this forum that the 410's make it feel like 50 hp gain and i agree. The 410's make this car perform like it was suppose to. By the way, i lost 2 mpg changing to 410's. Not bad. One of the best mods for the money and probably the best mod for performance unless you s/c.
