I mean Bush is the guy that ignored the NIA document on the threat of attack BEFORE 9/11 and he was re-elected!
JeffIsHereToo
Glenn Beck Photoshopped it and had the finished product on his show tonight. It looked great. It would have been a great picture! But the ends don't justify the means!
sportscars
I wanted to jump in the truck and head out right away but I waited until I knew what I could do and what was needed before I went. I flew from Texas to New York on Feb 11th and stayed a week providing support to the firemen and steelworkers at St. Pauls Chapel. I met some great men there. Men I will never forget. Men working 12 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week. It was an experience I will never, ever forget. I say God bless everyone who did anything to assist or help out in the days and months after 9/11. Just my $.
David Hawkins
I don't agree and especially for a one time photo-op. It's not worth re-evaluating risk and the costs etc., when it simply should have been conducted elsewhere. Personally, I feel it never should have been done at all. Obama keeps say that he wants to Cut Spending, Cut Spending, Cut Spending, but all he seems to be doing is Wasting our Tax Dollars every chance he gets. How much did it cost us Tax Payers for that Photo Op?
svttim
Im not trying to pick a fight man, this is one that still hits very close to home.In the hours afterward, no one here knew what to do, I couldnt reach my Mom till more than 12 hours afterwards (she worked in Manhattan at the time) so we did what we could, offer our manpower to help out. Turns out the government couldnt even decide if they did need us or not for 2 days. Maybe they would have, on that we went. Turns out they didnt. Lucky for me, many of the first responders are already gone from the ill effects of the air EVERYONE WAS SAYING WOULDNT HURT US. There was no self deployment,....they put out the word here for all kinds of help here at first. We responded. Understood. Believe it or not we were all scared. But, Im sure it was worse there 10 fold. If they called for help, then yes, you went and should have. We had people from here just pack up and go. I offered my assistance but was never contacted. In thier efense, it was the worst time in our history thus far, mass confusion. I understand your frustration all to well

I understand your frustration all to well Like I said I never got near the place......they sent the calls out for help over the local news they ended up never letting civilians other than maybe Bay Crane below 34th ST. I ended up making no contribution at all but maybe to my peace of mind looking back... I lay no claim to the pain, it is all of ours to share together. we were all just so confused.....none of it made any sense..... and to get back to what this thread was started about...... I heard building(s) were evacuated when this was sited happening, the plane flying low into New York Harbor... if that is true....can you imagine the fear in those people running down flights of stairs wondering if they would live or die.... only to find out later the reality of the foolish thoughtless stunt...... theres your hard earned tax dollars at work! DubbsFaris
ALL airspace over NYC has been shut down to jet traffic since 9/11 under a certain altitude, even small aircraft is restricted after the Yankee pitcher flew his plane into a highrise. You never see any low flying jets over the city anymore, the flight plans were modified for approach/take offs. I personally didnt see this jet, but I bet I would have s myself if I did. Especially with the F-16 escort, that would have made it look like it was being forced down. While LaGuardia is only a few miles from Manhattan, JFK is more than 20 miles away, Newark is actually closer than both of those, but all their planes stay on the Jersey side. And sorry Warren that you dont understand the fragility of this situation, maybe if jets flew over NYC every 2 minutes like the Pentagon, they we wouldnt have noticed either, but since they dont, .......THIS WAS A MAJOR F UP! Thats EXACTLY why I wanted to get some clarification on 'typical' conditions there. That was the perspective I needed to know about...I am familiar with NYC, but don't have the same knowledge as a resident... Damn, some poor schmuck is going to loose his career for that screw up... How much did it cost us Tax Payers for that Photo Op? It was pretty darn foolish. The jokes are even flying around that it was something that Bush would have done. But as is the case; nobody dare make a joke about the great one. And the numbers are in on the cost. Ready? $349,000 if I heard it correctly. I am the one who over re-acted Warren. I know you guys dont condone this. I heard some of the frantic calls to 911 on the news last night, its a shame people were put thru that. It was hard to listen to........apparently it was all too real for those who witnessed it. Until yesterday, I thought 8 years was along time, but turns out it isnt really at all. I am sure what you gave those men in support has stayed with them just as their work in those days has. I take my hat off to you.
