The lastest White House escapade.....

I find it extremely hard to believe that Obama didn't know about this in advance, being such a major operation. It was also planned to happen in D.C., both 9/11 sites??

I guess they never heard of Photoshop. These people are like children on a playground only they have lots of our money to play with. On a side note, what did anybody think of "Dear Leader" stammering and stuttering when his teleprompter wasn't handled correctly? He certainly can think on his feet. :hysterical:

The first (and only) thing that came to mind while reading this was that either someone high up with to much power thinks it would be funny to do that or that person thinks they could get paid big money from the Enquirer for the Photos (or from MAD Magazine).

It seems that EVERYONE in a Suit on Capital Hill should be FIRED and we start from scratch.

What I would like to know is...............

<1> Who came up with the idea to do that?

<2> Who gave to OK to seek permission higher up to do it?

<3> Who is the Highest Up Person that OK'd this plan?

<4> What was the reasoning behind it all?

<5> Why was it kept Hush-Hush?

That's okay guys. I wouldn't be too concerned about this. I heard a better one this morning. Obama wanted air time on the major stations tonight for a news conference and all the networks said no. Seems that America wants to see American Idol more than they want to see him. The masses have spoken. 'Bout time he got knocked down to earth. Yep, he's human and it looks like the shine has worn off. :hysterical:

He's the political equivalent of Brittany Spears. All he's interested in is being on TV and keeping his face on the news.

Im not sure I would throw Obama under the bus for this....I don't think flight plans are typically run by the president....

Besides, I knew the second I saw the video, it was Air Force One...and it had a fighter jet escort...

I think it was not thought through, but I need clarification on something from someone who lives there. Do planes not fly near the city typically? I was under the impression that La Guardia and Kennedy were pretty close to the city? How do planes land or take off there? Reagan airport in DC has planes coming in right over the pentagon ever 2 minutes...do those people get nervous or excited? Nope.

The background story is this was the traditional new administration photo of Air Force One. President Bush had it shot over the Grand Canyon and the idea was to take a shot with the Statue of Liberty. Well...I think someone was too caught up in the patriotic aspects and not enough in the common sense aspects.

ALL airspace over NYC has been shut down to jet traffic since 9/11 under a certain altitude, even small aircraft is restricted after the Yankee pitcher flew his plane into a highrise.

You never see any low flying jets over the city anymore, the flight plans were modified for approach/take offs.

I personally didnt see this jet, but I bet I would have s :censored: myself if I did.

Especially with the F-16 escort, that would have made it look like it was being forced down.

While LaGuardia is only a few miles from Manhattan, JFK is more than 20 miles away, Newark is actually closer than both of those, but all their planes stay on the Jersey side.

And sorry Warren that you dont understand the fragility of this situation, maybe if jets flew over NYC every 2 minutes like the Pentagon, they we wouldnt have noticed either, but since they dont, .......THIS WAS A MAJOR F :censored: UP!

It probably wouldn't have been so bad if they had let it be known what was GOING to happen and that it was going to be a Photo Op. They could have made it a great thing, letting people know in advance so they to could have a chance to take Photos themselves. But instead, they made everyone involved keep it Hush-Hush...... :finger:

The Fox network issued a statement Monday saying it will air regular programming Wednesday night instead of President Obama’s 100-day news conference.

“The Fox Broadcasting Company will not air the Presidential News Conference on Wednesday, April 29 at 8:00 PM (ET),” Fox said via a carefully worded statement. “Fox’s sister networks, Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network, will air the press conference in its entirety. Fox will be alerting viewers with an onscreen graphic at the top of the 8:00 PM (ET) hour that the press conference is available on Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network.”

This is the first time since Barack Obama took office that one of the big four broadcast networks has refused the President’s request for primetime coverage.

The decision not to cover the presser was most likely made because Fox, unlike ABC, CBS and NBC, does not have its own news division to offer varied opinions on the press conference. Fox News Channel gets more viewers for its coverage of these events than the Fox network.

Watch Breaking News

There’s also this little thing…it is understood that broadcasting a Presidential news conference costs the networks an estimated $10 million in lost advertising revenue. With Obama’s news conference slated for the start of ratings “sweeps” weeks - where advertising rates are generally set - Fox won’t lose the revenue-generating hour as ‘Lie to Me‘ is scheduled to run with (Boom!) ‘American Idol‘ just after - and on time.

ABC, CBS and NBC will carry President Obama’s telecast as will the aforementioned Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network.

While they told the FAA, Military, and the NY City Police yes they asked that it not be known to others as is usual procedure for Air Force One which I totally understand...now what I don't understand, and have to wonder why no one, in all these departments or any level of the chain of command, expressed a concern, the NYPD not even telling the Mayor? I mean, I do think a lot of people are really blowing it WAY WAY out of proportion for reasons not stated, but common sense would tell you this is just stupid. Did no one in a position of authority sit back, close there eyes and imagine this thinking "what would I assume if I say this out my window"?

I think the guy that planned and ordered this will soon resign it showed a lack of good judgement at best!

It might be "usual procedure", but this was done just for a "Photo Op". Obama was no where around let alone on the Plane. Everyone should have known in advance.

Sorry, In the buisness we call that freelancing, its dangerous and wrong! Those of us who whanted to go but, had the discipline to do the right thing have every right to comment.

I will give Obamma a pass n this one. Although, If it were Bush, many here on the other side would not. Whoever set this up is a bonehead

I don't agree and especially for a one time photo-op. It's not worth re-evaluating risk and the costs etc., when it simply should have been conducted elsewhere.

Those who "wanted" to go?

Sounds nice at dinner, but doesnt count for anything.

Those who were here DID GO and sat in Jacob Javits eating military rations FOR DAYS waiting for an opportunity to help,

and as far as Im concerned when someone says we getting excited NOW for nothing about a low flying plane in restricted airspace less than 1 mile from where 9/11 happened and for an inappropriate photo op.....

I'll say what I like to set the record straight.

I dint tell you that you couldnt, you told us not to say anything. I agree with you as far as the flyover and, I see where New Yorkers would be scared and, I would too. Damn dumb. As far as self deploying, I stand by my statement. It was much harder to do the right thing than to do the wrong thing. I know, I do it for a living

Im not trying to pick a fight man, this is one that still hits very close to home.

In the hours afterward, no one here knew what to do, I couldnt reach my Mom

till more than 12 hours afterwards (she worked in Manhattan at the time)

so we did what we could, offer our manpower to help out.

Turns out the government couldnt even decide if they did need us or not for 2 days.

Maybe they would have, on that we went.

Turns out they didnt.

Lucky for me, many of the first responders are already gone from the ill

effects of the air EVERYONE WAS SAYING WOULDNT HURT US.

There was no self deployment,....they put out the word here for all kinds of help here at first.

We responded.

Glenn Beck Photoshopped it and had the finished product on his show tonight. It looked great.
