Lee N.
I am new to the forum and currently have my car at SHelby for the 725hp SS conversion. I have been reading all the posts about wheel and tire options, but I am still unclear about what fits and what hits on the rear for the SuperSnake. What are you guys running that helps with traction? Nitto's? What how big can I go? Will my old GT500 rear wheels still fit for the track (I will have the new 6 piston rears)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Lee Novikoff
cobrafan
Lee, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your SuperSnake. Tires are the age old question for these upgrades. There are plenty of threads that will be helpful. I think some of the guys are running 295's or even 305's on the stock rims, but Shelby is suppose to be comiming out with an 11" to deal with the issue. I don't know about the big brakes and your old stock rims. A guess would be that they will work, but it is a quick answer by installing one. I've got a 40th and sent the rims off to Weldcraft and had them widdened to 10.5 and I am running 305's with the 725. It makes a difference, but you still need to be aware of your car and it's power. BoneDoc
i have nitto 305/35/18's on stock rims for the drag strip. I spoke with Cameron at SAI vegas (my car is there getting SS'd now) and he said they abandoned the 11" alcoas because of rubbing issues.... and they didn't want to alter the fender to accomodate. Alter the fender?? What a cheap ass excuse. The answer is to start from a new sheet of paper and redesign the wheel with the right backspace.......obviously they were trying to do the cheap way out by adding an inch in the inside. ........and after all the money people are paying.........SAD !!! cobrafan
Contact James James@WeldcraftWheels.com, (734)420-2211 I really don't remember the cost. I think around $300 or so a wheel.
