SS strut tower brace

I agree, mine had the Ford Racing Strut Tower brace installed and the stock one returned with my take off parts.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought, just wanted to be sure

I think it might depend on which suspension you went with. If you got the Shelby/Eibach I don't think you get one. That's the package that I got and I don't have the FRPP brace either.

 

ootmar was asking about the 605 HP conversion that does come with the Ford Racing, I believe Joker went with the 735 and a strut brace will not fit. I have the Eibach with the 605 and it did come with the Ford Racing Strut Tower Brace.

I have the 605 TVS set-up with the Eibach and I did not get the FRPP brace on mine.

What's the difference between the Shelby/Eibach swaybars and the FRPP sway bars?

 

Color? Shelby/Eibach = powdercoated RED, FRPP = BLUE.

 

Does any know?

I believe the FRPP kits comes with the brace in the suspension kit and the Eibach does not because it's not a Ford kit.

I have the Eibach with the 605 and it did come with the Ford Racing Strut Tower Brace. Mine was done at Tasca though.

Hum. Making me wonder now. I actually have no idea what's going on then. I just thought that means I got the Eibach suspension that's why I didn't get the FRPP brace. :headscratch:

Because the 725 HP Super Charger is to tall for the brace and the hood will not close.

 

I heard that CAI and Kenne Bell is working on this.

 

Yea that is well known. What we are trying to figure out is why some people with the TVS have it, while some with the TVS don't.

Did you have the engine/trany lowered ?

How long did it take & how much did it cost? :headscratch:

I like the pics/strut brace......

mine was super snaked last year at tasca :cry:

 

They lowerd the engine to make it fit, give Dennis a call

Instead of buying /replacing/ the motor mounts has anyone just installed thick flat washers or a plate between the front sub frame and rail to drop the motor down 1/4-1/2 inch??? I would also like to put the factory STB back on.

Al it should be the Ford Racing one as above. Sounds like they forgot a couple of things on yours. Maybe they can send it with all your take off parts and they mats they owe you. How is the car running?

Hi Don, car runs and drives great ! So did your car come with new strut brace ? did you do ford racing suspension ? When I talked to SH, they said none of their cars come with new strut brace ????

In the option you have listed above^^^^^^^^............With everything in place and the car sitting on the ground, if plates were installed between the front sub frame and body, is this in-fact truely lowering the engine? or just raising the body? If the engine and front suspension are bolted to the sub frame (which they are), and the strut tower brace is bolted to the body, which it is, and nothing else is changed other than adding spacers between the sub frame and the body, isn't this really raising the body to get clearance? If the spacers are added, the body goes up, if they are removed the body goes down.

 

The only way to truely "lower the engine" is to either use shorter engine mounts, or, use a sub frame that has been specifically designed to lower the engine,<<<or a combination of both. Adding spacers just lifts the body.

 

SVT did this "spacer trick" to get addidtional clearance on the 2000 Cobra R upper intake to fiberglass hood. They also used shorter engine mounts to lower the 5.4 DOHC, and these shorter mounts did in fact lower the engine. If I were to right now jack up my 2000R and remove the spacers and do nothing else to that car besides remove the spacers, the body would drop 13mm. The engine would still be in the same position it was before I removed the spacers.

For the 725 HP package, has anyone looked at the strut tower brace modification that Hennessey Performance did for their 750 KR package? From what I understand, the enginne is not lowered, the original stock brace is cut and modified as noted in the picture. The 750KR retains the original GT 500 hood so I don't know if the modification would work with the SS hood. Before I explore this option further thought I'd see if anyone else has already gone down this path....
