Stalwart
I don't know about it being FASTER but is is supposed to have the same power.
Whammer
I think they are about the same HP.
shelbymotorsports
Same horsepower rating of 540 but I would put my money on the KR as being faster even if its just by a hair. Steve
thewheelman
Depends on the color...... I'd put my money on the Alloy one, regardless of year!
NICK82
I think the KR has more magical power.
Sharp GT500
I think the KR has 3.73's and a lower restriction exhaust. The 2010 has 3.55's. My money is on the KR.
chuckstang
KR no question. No body is claiming the 2010 is fater The KR has 373 gears vs 355, that is a huge help as well as the tires on the KR and suspension is more extreme, not to mention brake ducting and diff cooler and on and on
cammerunderpressure
Depends on the color...... I'd put my money on the Alloy one, regardless of year! I heard they didn't even make the KR's in Alloy, because they were concerned it would have been too fast.... :happy feet:
6-Speed
I believe they are both speed limited to 157 MPH.

ISAID
In May when I get my 2010 GT500, I would love to line up with a KR. From the road test and articles I have read the 2010 will take the KR on the strip or the track. Oh you can get the 2010 in Sterling Grey Metallic like mine :D
Stalwart
And the evidence behind this is? I've read all the early pre-production road tests I could get my hands on and I didn't see one where they came to that conclusion.
Starkie
So really, who cares if it is? LOL. Its a KR. Starkie

thewheelman
FASTER? or Quicker? I've spent years trying to teach my son's the difference. Give 2 identical cars the same hp and torque, one has 3.55 gears the other has 4.10 gears. Which is faster? Which is quicker? With no electronic or mechanical limiter the 3.55 car will be faster on the top end, but the 4.10 car will accelerate quicker. I remember seeing a chart way back in the dark ages showing the different gear sets for Ferraris at Le Mans and the proposed top speed for each. Amazing what a V12 with 2.92 gears can do down the Mulsane straight.....but it's got to be able to pull itself out of the corner too...... Given the nature of the two, I'd vote for the KR, and volunteer to drive either--or both!
ISAID
Well for the thirty grand price difference I should be able to do just a few mods if needed to take the over priced KR. The reviews I have read compared specifically the handling of the KR to the 2010 with new 500 being far better.

me32
i thought when the did test the KR was able to do a 12.1 in the 1/4 and the 2010 GT500 did a 12.4 in the 1/4. so i see the win in the KR at the Strip, stock for stock. and the 2010 uses the KR suspension. ISAID
I actually put money down on a KR before they arrived at the dealers. When it arrived the dealer said they wanted $125,000 for it. I told them to keep it and my deposit. I think the looks of the KR are sharp. But I am so excited about getting my new 2010 and would drive either or both every chance I got. ISAID
I would suggest you read the Edmunds review and the Ford designer reviews. The 2010 platform started with the KR, but the complete supension package has been upgraded and much better than the KR'S. The 2010 will run in the low 12's but with improved traction should be much easier to control burnout at launch. Also the 3.55 is the final drive ratio for improved fuel economy much shorter in 1st-4th.

Good luck trying to find a KR on the street too "take" I have not seen one on the street or at a car show and I've been to several shows with well over 300 cars in attendance. Where did they all go? Where did they all go? I haven't seen any on the street either. I have seen quite a few at dealers still holding on for the high price. The KR would still be cool to own for future value. Of course by the time the car was a classic a stick of bubble gum would cost $10.00 or more!

COBRA SCOTTY
By theory the kr would be faster with it's functional light weight ram air hood and a more advanced tune the kr should be faster. i also feel since the kr comes with a 373 ring and pinion this would tip the scale in the kr's favor again. my bet is on the kr with drivers of equal ability.
