1badsho
Not something I wanted to do but if all goes well .... ( well sorta of ) ... I should have sold my 07 GT500. Its been on ebay and I hit my reserve so by tomorrow evening it should be over. Second time on ebay... first time the winning bid ... his wife lost her job so I didnt hold him to it. He already had plane tickets and I was set to pick him up. This time I hope should be for real. Already spoke to the high bidder and he totalled his 07 GT500 a few mths back. He is getting one nice car. I wasnt in a rush to sell it and wanted to sell it on my terms at my leisure. Work here at the dealership has actually started to pickup ... which is great. Wife works higher up with the state of florida and has no job security. So with the State of Florida budget in a crisis .... prob not a bad idea to put some cash in the bank just in case. Hopefully I wont have to use it and in a year or so be able to buy another GT500 .... hmmmm or possibly that new 2010 SHO :happy feet: Again really didnt want to do this ... the people I met on the forum are great people and greater car lovers. I am no exception. Not only am I a huge GT500 lover but I got lucky and lived the dream for a few years. I still plan to help Brad out at the Horse Power on the Horse Farm next year ... only difference is I will be Shelby-less. I kept this private and only a few close friends new I was selling the car. Its just the way I do things.
Andrew DeSpirito
I'm sorry to hear that. However, I understand the need to buckle down now, especially in these uncertain times. Hang on a little bit, and once the economy improves, you can pull the trigger on a 2010 GT500! (Or yes, even that SHO!!) Best of luck to you. Hopefully you'll still hang around here - I've always appreciated your honesty and willingness to help.

Bandit012
Don, I feel very ambivalent on this post. I am happy that you are able to sell your car, hope everything works out fine with the buyer. It makes me sad, that a friend is selling his car and i really want you to stay as a forum member, as we developed a frienship via the forum. Maybe you will get the chance to buy another Gt500 soon, at least i will try to help the best I could. Take care and drive safe! Ralf

I consider you a dear friend and your always welcomed at my house. The reason why I didnt send u any info about the car was that a bidder on ebay had met my reserve. The auction is over now .... I just need to see if any one else beat his current high bid. Just today I had a canadian who I have been talking to since the first ebay add .... He saw the car today and said if something happens to the current bid winner on ebay that he would buy it. he told me the car is correctly described ! Its so hard to describe a car that is truly flawless ... on ebay ... no one believes. Thanks for the kind words and thank everyone who has responded to my post. I truly appreciate the kind words don
wagsblueshirts
Ahhhhh, Jeez, Don. Sorry to hear the news. You know where I live, and you got my number- call me whenever you want to take mine for a spin- with me as the passenger, of course! I mean it. I have nothing but great things to say about Don, and his dealership. I bought an '05 Mustang GT there, only to upgrade to an '07 Shelby GT, also purchased from Bay Harbor. When I finally was able to take the plunge on an '08 GT 500, they didn't have one at Bay Harbor, so I purchased at another dealer. I bought some "parts" from Don right around Christmas, and spent a very enjoyable day at his house, watching as he did the install. It certainly woke up the beast. Anyway, when it was time for the dreaded clutch TSB, I called Don the very day I began having troubles. He personally talked with the Service Manager, Brian, and ensured that my baby got the proper care while it was there. I greatly appreciated that for sure. Again, Don- the offer is there. I'll stop by and see you soon. I know you'll once again be driving a demon- GT 500 or SHO before you know it. Thanks for all of your help. We're in the same boat here. Business had been slow for about 2 years, but in January it fell off a cliff. We listed our lake property last weekend. It was going to be our retirement house If things don't turn around in the next 6 months, my car will have to go

cobrafan
Don, You are a true gentleman and one of the most enthusiastic GT 500 owners I have ever met. The event at the Horse Farm is one of the “must do” events for a Shelby owner. We feel your pain and wish you good fortune to come. I’m old enough to remember having the milk man deliver to the front door every morning. This was in the days pre homogenized milk. My mother gave me some good advice while growing up that I’d like to pass along. She told me that “The cream always rises to the top” and then explained what that means about having fortitude, integrity, honesty, compassion and hard work and sacrifice. The bottle has been shaken up a little, but things will settle and the cream rise to the top and you will continue to accomplish your dreams and aspirations, whether that is another Shelby or a Sho, or just living your life on your terms. Best wishes for you and your family. We are better folks for knowing you. You are in our prayers. Don

NICK82
This is happening everywhere. There is a guy on rennlist.com a Porsche forum who had a gorgeous 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S, fully loaded, PCCB Brakes, factory Aero-kit. MSRP 115k. Guy leased it in 06 and put 65k down on the car. He has only one year left on the payments and then an option to buy. His wife lost her job, his 401k is in the tank and he can't make the payments anymore. Looks like he's got a total loss and he is devastated. Just remember there are plenty more Shelby's out there and you will get on in the future when things pick up. 2007shelbyGT500
Don- I knew this had been planned for some time and want you to know that you will always have a Shelby to drive as long as I can afford to keep mine!!! Well, I don’t have my GT 500 anymore but you are welcomed to Jess’s Hertz Shelby. I don’t think you’ll pass up a spin in the Series 1 either. Cars come and go but true friends are timeless! You are a good man and if it wasn’t for our cars we may not have met, that would be something to be sad about. The fact is that you will have another car someday and we will still be good friends. Horsepower on the Horse Farm would not be the same without you and we need your help!!!! Pig should be getting the DVD finished soon and I hope to see you at the farm for the premier. You know you always have a place to stay so the only thing different will be that you will be driving a different car. Keep spreading the word about Horsepower on the Horse Farm and let’s have an official HOTHF meeting when we all get together for the DVD. Keep your head up and remember that I love you like a brother, an O’Duels drinking brother but none the less a true friend- Stay Tough, Brad
regalt87
Don, I don't know if you remember me but we met at last years horse farm. I was in the red one with white stripes!!! I am saddened to hear that you sold your GT500. But good times come and go for every one and you will ride again. Hang in there. Another thought is take a used 6 cyl car that you get on trade and mod the hell out of it. Won't be as much torque but a fun driver until you get a chance to get another 500. Best of luck. Scott.
