blueshawk
I have the Brenspeed 93 octane tune in my otherwise stock SGT. Does anyone know the difference between this tune and the Bamachips 93 Race tune? Has anyone tried both?

Does anyone know the difference between this tune and the Bamachips 93 Race tune? Has anyone tried both? I've used both. I prefer the Brenspeed tune over the Bamachips tune because of the way the Brenspeed tune handles an automatic tranny. Much better transition through the gears. Both companies will work with you after the initial tune is installed to fine tune it to your liking.

Does anyone know the difference between this tune and the Bamachips 93 Race tune? Has anyone tried both? I was just looking at the brenspeed today... how noticable were the gains? I plan on a turbo next year, so may just hold off, but very curious about how much they actually improve the performance...

Best mod for the money IMO, whether your engine is NA or FI.
ndwhitehorse
What additive or fuel are you using to get 93 octane? All I can get at a pump here is 91, and that's stretching it with most brands of gas.

jmn444
Yeah, 93 is all we have around here in Indiana too... Brenspeed emailed me earlier and said I could expect 25-30 peak hp gain... that's not really jiving with what's been posted here, any thoughts? A good tune should be worth all of that. From what I've read about Bama lately, I'd stick with Brenspeed personally.

stngfever
20 - 30 on a stock GT yes. To gain 20 - 30 on the SGT would be a stretch! I say more like 10 - 15 on the SGT
AKA-SHLB
I researched both and the consensus was pretty much 50/50 on peoples opinions. I ended up going with the Brenspeed and I couldn't be happier, as a matter of fact I need to leave on the stock tune for daily driving otherwise it's a little too jumpy. I'm sure which ever one you choose you will feel a big difference, although I will say that Brenspeed was very helpful and the programmer arrived faster than I expected. jmn444
I'll prob stick with Brenspeed, they are located fairly close to my area, and they also said buying the tuner now would get me a $200 discount on the turbo kit if I pull the trigger on that next year since they wouldn't have to send me a new tuner then. sounds like a win/win to me! Shelby-Don
93 = premium in most states In MO most stations call 91 premium but depending on where you go withinth state you can find higher just not close to me. I believe when at Shelbyfest I found up to 94 or
shelbytexan
I've got brenspeed and i've had no problems. My Shelby wouldn't pass emissions test with tune so i went back to stock and past test then drove across the street and reinstalled the tune. If you can't get 93 octane then just install the 91 tune if you can get 91 octane and you will still be happy. I'm with Ken in that it seems Bama is having so much problems lately , that i would steer away from them. Good Luck.
2007_Shelby_GT
I'll chime in here for a minute: BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING AN OCTANE BOOSTER TO GET 91 OCTANE UP TO 93 OCTANE!!! I'm just saying this because some folks here have had some bad issues with octane booster, thankfully, I have 93 octane available here! 91 ain't that far from 93 anyway... Of course if you want, drive out to the airport and get some 100 octane low-lead and let us know how that works! (just kidding) Sam AKA:

Buy the 91 tune and add the booster anyway, if you're already going to. I run LucasOil octane booster with every tankful and have had zero issues with it thus far. When at the track, I fill up with 100 octane, but still use my 91 octane tune, just to ensure I won't have any detonation. Ken
RACERX009
I have had Bama 93 octane tune and also ran his 93 race tune found the race tune makes the throttle very senstive but the response is more aggressive. Thinking of having Evolution performance do a tune for me but they are really expensive but heard they are the best. Anthony

Thinking of having Evolution performance do a tune for me but they are really expensive but heard they are the best. Anthony The guys at EVO told me not to waste my coin, if I was happy at all with my current tune. The only reason being that there is rarely much HP left in a 4.6 after an aftermarket tuner has already gotten his hands on it. A 5.4 is a completely different story - EVO can pull damn near 100 HP out of an already 'tuned' car from time to time. I'd say save that dough for a blower. Good luck Ken
