clark17357
Very nice. I gave up waiting for the brakes you just put on. If you have a chance, it would be nice to see a side shot (with wheels on) of the car so we can see those huge calipers fore and aft. If that was your last mod (for now, anyway), you picked a great one. Jim

robertlane
They look sweet and I bet they perform awesome! A lot of people have been waiting for these and they are starting to arrive at SAI. Lengthy certification to make these available.
USBlueStage2
Looks good - so what are the specs? (6 piston, 13" rotor, offset, fit under OEM GT500 wheels, etc.)
clark17357
Looks good - so what are the specs? (6 piston, 13" rotor, offset, fit under OEM GT500 wheels, etc.) It is an interesting design. Baer is using the same caliper body front and back with the difference being in the piston size to balance the braking effort. Not sure why they did it that way. Probably had to do with lower production costs compared to designing and producing a smaller caliper body to house the smaller pistons. Given they are the same size as the fronts, they will fit the GT500 wheels. I am just pleased that the owner who wants really, really, really good braking but still have the car all Shelby has this option. Jim

Jim Hehehe, well the 100 to 0 would be more important Would also be interesting to see say 20 consecutive stops - from some predetermined speed to

USBlueStage2
$3775 for the set The fronts are $2,999 (http://www.shelbyperformanceparts.com/ShowItem/100261%20Baer%20brakes%2C%20front.aspx). Dont see the rears listed on the Shelby site. So the rears are more than the fronts?
clark17357
So the rears are more than the fronts? The price for the rears is an installed price while the price that you found for the fronts is not an installed price. Jim
clark17357
I went back and looked at what I paid for my brakes. I paid $6,089.43 for the brakes, front and back, stainless steel brake lines and AP Racing brake fluid. This price did not include installation but included tax (at 7.75%) and shipping. I bought mine at Stillen. I share the cost at this point because this thread is populated by people who will not faint dead away with the money involved with the most effective brakes. I had them installed for about $700. Hope that helps with your cost comparison. Jim
Robert M
$3775 for the set ^^^This price will bump a few buyers out of the purchase, who were expecting to spend a few hundred, or maybe even $1K+ for a set of color matching rear calipers, to what they have on the front............... It is not an inexpensive addition, but very nice in function and look. I guess the higher price on the rear is for the e-brake hardware and function that is not present on the front?<<<Makes sense. Robert M
$3775 for two brake calipers and two rotors, Yikes!! But wait, there's more................. The mounting brackets and braided brake hoses are also included. I have been told that the addition of this Baer Extreme rear brake kit in conjunction with the Baer front kit that is part of the production Super Snake will equal the braking power of may competition cars. The GT500 is not a light vehicle, it is nice to have Great brakes to slow it quickly when desired.<<But, it will cost....... The thing is.............as I have mentioned above, this is far more than many, dare I say most, were expecting to spend to install "color matched" rear calipers on their Super Snake, BUT, this is not just matching colored calipers, it is a complete rear brake upgrade, well beyond what is on the regular production GT500 or GT500KR. clark17357
I spent the money for big brakes for one reason -- to stop the damn thing when stopping was what needed doing. Better to have big brakes and not need their full capacity than to need their full capacity and not have big enough brakes. What would you pay for them in the moment before impact? It has always seemed to me, especially for you guys with that monster 5.4 motor, that you could use all the braking you could put on the car. My two cents. GT500FLYBOY
What if you already have the rear rotors on your SS and just want the calipers? That's what I am interested in. The rear rotors we got with the original Baer package are for the stock calipers only. This new upgrade includes everything - including new rotors. bchorney
I had these put on as part of my SS build. The first time I really laid on the brakes I was not prepared for what they were able to do. If I wasn't wearing my seat belt, I would have put a lot of snot on the windsheild since I would have been all over the dash!! They are awesome!
