rush_junky
Will the warranty replace the 2007 Hood Pins with the 2008 version? The 2008 billet plate looks much better than the 2007 "sheet metal" one. Any suggestions? Thanks !
William Rodgers
I highly doubt it. I just bought the 2008 ones, they are a big improvement in my opinion. I should take the 2007 ones in for replacement under warranty because they were broke and the cables were beginning to rust when I took them off. JeffIsHereToo
I guess I'm in the minority! I like the 07's classic pins more than the stylized 08 pins.
bruces
I agree with Jeff I have same type pins on my 67 Shelby as my 07 like the vintage muscle car look, now my car is not daily driver and only has 800 mile it is fun car so it is not exposed to weather. I keep cable lanyards and plates waxed and wurth spray wax under hood. I have replaced plates with concours quality plates from Tnoy Branda. Was in barn today getting out of storage and pins look fine

08shelbygt/superbee
The 2008 pins have the same paint bubbling issue that the 07's have...I seen a picture of them up close on ebay trying to sell a car and that car has the issue and so does mine along with many if not all others... Take it in for a warranty replacement. There are some 07 style that are defective and don't have the tension that they are supposed to have. Easy swap. Do people that have the issue wash their cars often or leave them/drive them in the rain? My car has been in rain maybe 5 times in two years and washed with water MAYBE another 5 times and so far no issues. I pulled the plates off a few months ago to replace the plates and didn't see any issues. But I think as part of my spring clean up I will check again. From my reading aluminum and stainless should be "ok" unless there is a high level of moisture etc. Did anyone end up buying the aluminum screws in bulk that wants to sell some? fatboy
i had to use a rat tail file to widen the holes to get my billet pins to fit. the studs wouldnt go through the holes no matter how i manipulated them.

About a year and a half ago i got some new plates from Shelby and they asked if I had the 1/2 pins or the 9/16 pins. I had to measure and they were the 1/2. The holes in your aluminum hood will have to be elongated slightly to accommodate the hood pin angle required because of the much greater thickness of the billet plate. After replacing my stock flat plates twice because I accidentally bent them when I popped the hood before pulling the cotter pins out, I decided to get the more durable billet aluminum replacement. I think they look much better and I'm very happy with how they function. Chip

I've owned my car 3 months now...It sat at a dealership lot for who knows how long and then sat 3 weeks after I bought it waiting on stripes and hood scoops so It hasn't seen much rain or wash since I bought it but like I said who knows how long it sat...Also I wouldn't have noticed the bubbles if I hadn't read about them on here...I had to look fairly close at my hood to notice them... Plus, if you get aluminum screws you can completely eliminate the potential for galvanic corrosion.
