Carnut12
I want to paint my calipers and with the Epoxy paint I only have 5-6 hours to do so. Due to that I plan to put the car on Jack Stands, take the wheels off, tape each Caliper and then go to work. For those that have had the car up on stands what procedure did you use? Did you do the front or back first? It appears the back may be easier so I was thinking of driving on my Rhino Ramps, then jacking the back and placing the stands, and then going to the front and picking it up just enough above the Rhino Ramps so I could get the wheels off. I would place jack stands on the front incase the jack gave out. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Carnut12
I did search and saw what Grabber posted, I was really more interested in procedure, his does not speak about doing one side first over the other. Just curious for those that had the entire car up. Thanks though
WildAzCat
I was consider doing the same thing. I plan one doing it just as you described unless someone has a better process.

Thanks, Bill You should be fine if you put two jackstands under the rear axle and one under the front end where the jacking points are (pinch welds). That should give you a firm enough platform to work on the calipers without worry about whether or not it is stable. DON'T put jackstands under the front cross member or anywhere else under the front end...you run the risk of bending frame parts...use the pinch welds for what they were made for... SGT/SC#0471
So floor jack under the front crossmember in the center is ok then correct?
Carnut12
So floor jack under the front crossmember in the center is ok then correct? This will be very hard to get to with-out driving on Ramps of some sort first even with a low profile jack.

And I have a set of 2" x 10" Boards that I use for elevating the car high enough to get the floor jack in place... Although I use them primarily for getting my SGT on and off the trailer I use (pic below), they do work well on the garage floor as well... But I only do one set at a time... Starting with the rears first, as they have the longest lines from the Master Cylinder... And I do use the recommended jack positions as listed in the attachment, including the front cross member... Just have to take your time and make sure everything clears because of the lowered suspension... Gregg 07SGT0547
Grabber
When I jack the front of my car up I use 2 sissor jacks and take it up even on both sides. I get it up high enough to slide 2 jack stands under the car and place them on the frame rail like Ford says we should. I then lower the sissor jacks to allow 1/2 the pressure to transfer to the frame rail. This way the front of my car is supported by 4 points. The pinch welds and the 2 frame rails.
