Guest markham51
Finally an objective Republican! Some people are classy enough to give credit where credit is due rather than constantly trying to bring the President down. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/05/sot...elch/index.html
clark17357
Believe me, Republicans, like all Americans, want the President to succeed. We all NEED him to succeed. But the economic policies he is putting forth are not particularly sound. I am not saying I want his job and his job may be an impossible one. These are uncharted waters and he is not sailing in the best ship for those waters. Trust me, I want, very much, for you to send me this post in a year and remind me that I was wrong. FormerGmc
Remarkable! Usually we are on our side. I guess the Car Designer in Chief should be considered remarkable for the other G-20 members. You will have to forgive me. Sometimes I forget he is president of the world.
ilmor
Any so-called Republican who agrees with Obama's policies is, obviously, a RINO.

Jim Jim, I respect your point of view because you made your point in a respectful way, however many on this site make Rush Limbaugh sound almost human. They are neither objective or respectful to a man who is working hard to solve some really tough problems. I know most Republicans don't agree with his many of his policies, that is a given. There is good reason for debate and we are charting some unfamiliar territory with the economic mess we are in. There are bound to be differences, so lets discuss them and debate them. If we dont like his policies, then what are the alternatives? Its the obvious hatred bordering on hysteria that concerns me the most. Anyone who simply says everything he does is wrong (or will be wrong) is being childish. It reminds me of the school yard bully or a bunch of teenage girls who sit around gossiping about their classmates all day. Lets argue/debate like adults at least, this is Carroll Shelby's site. I just look at the Author of a post on this site and that tells me if I should bother to even look at it (most I don't). If I read it, in most cases I will make my comment and move on without coming back to the post. In life if you show respect, you get respect. Its as simple as that in my opinion. My failure is probably returning to make this post. Meanwhile, I'll wait for an "objective" post from the other side that shows respect. It's fun to read when you are of neither party. But, then you will acknowlege that discussion on both sides can border on hysteria. I would argue that, we have faced these challenges before. Maybe not in this form but, certainly, the great depression and durring the Carter administration, simular problems existed. The hysteria you see is not from a personal dislike of our President, but, his apparent or perceived efforts to change the very fabric of our society. He certainly could do more to relieve those fears but, choses not to. When Bush was in office, you saw the same hysteria on the part of the left. They claimed he was an evil man and a liar. And I am sure, they will reiterate there is proof. The fact is, there was never any proof and in fact, many indicators of the opposite they choose to ignore. They had no idea what was in the heart of President Bush just as I truly dont know what is in the heart of our current President. I do know this, neither party is interested in enforcing the laws of our land. And I suspect, neither party cares about much but its retrieveal and retention of power. Orf
Its the obvious hatred bordering on hysteria that concerns me the most. Anyone who simply says everything he does is wrong (or will be wrong) is being childish. It reminds me of the school yard bully or a bunch of teenage girls who sit around gossiping about their classmates all day. I do enjoy reading your take on these things, even though we both know that we don't agree, politically. I'm a fiscal conservative and a social libertarian. I really don't see any merit in socialism/marxism. The quote above could have been written any time since 2001. Unfortunately, this type of public statement hasn't been made until January of this year. What about all the "hatred bordering on hysteria" that was plainly evident over the past 7 years? This is a serious question: Does it only warrant mentioning when the disagreement is aimed at someone you (in general, not you specifically) agree with? I mean, do you think there was "hatred bordering on hysteria" of our former President? I believe there was just as much venom spewed from the other side then. It doesn't make it right. I disagree with our current administration's policies and where I think they want to take the country, but I still remain hopeful that the economy will be revitalized in the near (or not too distant) future.
