GT500 over 200 MPH @ Texas Mile

Just saw where the PSI Motorsports GT500 broke 200mph 3 times today :happy feet:

1st run @ 201

2nd run @ 202

3rd run @ 205

I'm not sure what mods are on the car. I think relatively stock GT500s run in the 170s.

They'll have a chance to go faster tomorrow

Man that must be a blast to mash the pedal to the floor for an entire mile :bandance: :peelout:

and it's legal :yup:

I won't even drive mine in the rain. The idea of driving on an open road made of salt would give me nightmares of endless cleaning. I wonder if the salt would clean some of the rust off the steel parts under the car?

And A Toyota Supra 246.2 mph off the trailer street car,yes street car. On the second run the motor thru a rod at 9500 rpm. Ths was also on a STOCK OIL PUMP . Next year will be dry sump and breaking the 250 mark. The top three cars were 11-13 year old Supra's running over 235mph.

I'd like to see what the car looks like cause at that speed I'd think the hood would be ripped off. They have to have some different aero package than the stock one.

Fordie, did any of these GT500 guys comment on the logic (tune) they were using to alter/defeat/eliminate the speed limiter? In addition, were they using numerically lower gear ratios?

Here is Pats post on his runs, he is the owner of PSI Motorsports so the tune is his. Hats off to ya Pat. He performed the work on my Shelby I wonder if it will go 200+ :headscratch:

My only mod is the CAI and tune. But the tune came with some details of what it did.

a) up'ed the rev limiter 0.2k

B) eliminated the speed limiter

and some other goodies

Might have to see if I can pay a few $$ and run it on a track somewhere around Atlanta to see what it will do. Not sure where to start to find one that will let me use the track for a few hours for some $$

That is STICKY asphalt too. Not the slick stuff on the roads, so could be interesting.

Oh, and salt does not clean rust off of ANYTHING. It promotes rust. No salt flats for me. Nada.

You can modify or eliminate the speed limiter with a Tune, in my case I had a SCT X3 handheld and VMP custom tune, you can set the speed limiter as desired. We ran 165.9mph with no other power mods.

Eddie Garza had a stock GT500 with _no_ tune and ran all day at 158mph against the limiter (but lots of fun anyway).

So the short answer is call Justin at VMP, for ~$440 he can defeat the limiter and add 50+RWHP.

Cheers, Fordie.

are there any safety items needed to be legal to run? On bikes we have to safety wire everything etc., anything special for streetcars?
