NICK82
I've been doing quite a bit of market research on Porsche's and Ferraris in search of another weekend toy. I can tell you right now that the Shelby is doing just fine. Comparisons (and these are cars that typically hold their values very well and occasionally appreciate) 2005/2006 Ferrari F430 MSRP $209,000 A low miles F430 would sell for this price if not more up until last year. They now can be had for a low of 130,000 and up to 175,000 for better examples. HUGE loss and unheard of for such a new Ferrari. Porsche 997 Carrera S fully loaded MSRP around 100,000. You can now buy a low miles 2006 for 48,000 with better examples going for 53,000. It's even worse with Mercedes and BMW. 07/08 Shelby GT500 MSRP 47,000 (fully loaded) Used models are going for 38K typically. Given the current market conditions this is very good and I believe that had the economy not tanked a used Shelby for MSRP would of been the norm and even some slight appreciation for a low miles one from a motivated buyer. Not a good investment, never was considering the production numbers but they are holding their value very well given the conditions.

skiph
Humm.....I have to disagree with not a good investment comment. That is like buying stock in a specific company, then right after you buy it, the stock drops in value, and saying "see, bad investment". Well, if you wait a while, the stock could triple in value. Time will tell. Long term thinking, not short term thinking. I can't speak about anybody's plans but my own. But... I LOVE THIS CAR. :happy feet: Good investment #1. I plan to keep this puppy in pristine condition, putting 4K to 5K miles a year on it (max), with all the original paperwork, etc. So 10, 15, 20 years from now it's reasonable to conclude this will be a rare, "OMG You have a GT500 in this excellent condition?" kind of thing. Good investment #2 Really...bad investment? Give it time....give it time..
wingsnut
I'm just gonna drive mine... didn't really buy it for investment purpose. Growing up my parents made us kids keep all of our stuff in pristine condition. We had nice things and they stayed just that way and we never got to enjoy them. So, I'll keep it as clean as I can, try to avoid the rainy days, but nothing is worth more to me than the feeling I get just going for a drive! To each his own!!!!!!! Even if they are seen, it's not in great numbers regardless of where you live. Most folks (not talking about folks here) seem to be keeping these in bubble wrap in their garage. There are going to literally thousands of these in mint factory condition to choose from in 20 years. They aren't gonna be worth that much in my opinion. I bought it to drive, not to sit in the garage and look pretty. So I really don't care. Party on!!!!

500forme
Personally, I did not buy mine as an investment vehicle (pun intended), however should it some day go up in value, great. That being said, should I ever have to sell the car, I believe that I have a pretty good exit strategy versus my other toys that drop in value like a lead balloon.
