03reptile
Grabber, I just sent a PM to Shelby001 in referenced to his advise to order a nylon locking nut that fits on the input shaft of the transmission prior to doing the TSB clutch/shaft replacement. He says it isn't included in the TSB parts list and it had to be ordered seperately. My TSB parts are in and am scheduled for the TSB work on 03/25/2009. My service manager is curious about this, as well. Does Shelby001's post mean that the nut was damaged on removal or is it a part that needs replacement each time it is removed. I suspect it got damaged on tear down, but am not sure. Service manager is in the dark on this one as well and would order one, if necessary. What are your thoughts? Please respond ASAP. Thanks, 03reptile.

Thanks, 03reptile. Grabber, Shelby001 responded to my thread and explained I had confused the input shaft with the output shaft (which I had) and the nyon nut went on the rear output shaft of the trans. Had the dealer order a new nut and it should arrive well before the TSB is started on the 25th. This is something our future TSB'rs should be aware of if their trans is rebuilt with the synchros & up-dated input shaft installed. Apparently it does not come with the TSB parts and would have to be ordered, thus causing a delay on getting the trans back together.
Grabber
Why can't the original be re used ?
shelbymotorsports
Why can't the original be re used ? Well technically nylon locking nuts are a one time use item but trust me more people re-use them then replace them with new. Steve
03reptile
Why can't the original be re used ? Grabber, Jim, (Shelby001) indicated in his PM that the nylon nut's threads are damaged by the metal shaft when removed, therefore necessitating a repalcement nut. I'm going to go look at the TSB parts tomorrow so will have a chance to talk with the Technician about this, but feel confident in Shelby001's advise. The nut has been ordered. Thanks for your past advise and assistance!!
