As per 'Rufdraft's recommendation, I purchased the Zaino Total Protection Show Car Kit. Coming from the wash & wax genre, this is the first time I have used a process like this.

Step 1 was the Dawn wash; which was limited to the painted surfaces.

Step 2 was claying the car with diluted Z7 Show Car Wash. Dang, I couldn't believe junk the clay bar removed from the paint. And the stripes too. Until I started claying the stripes, I didn't notice the small black specks on the vinyl stripes. These black specks were hard to remove. And the glass. Good gosh, while claying the glass you could hear the junk being picked up by the clay. Everything is smooth now. Really smooth.

Step 3 was ZFX; mixing the ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive with an ounce and a half of Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish.

Here is a picture after one coat of ZFX...

And a reflection of my neighbor's house across the street...

I going to apply one more coat of ZFX and top it off with one coat of Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray.

What was your total time spent making it that GOOD??????????

It's been an all day event. As far as total time working on the car, I've lost track as I've been doing other things around the house. It's definitely not as quick as washing and waxing. Plus I went a little slow being my first time.

Awesome looking car! Great to hear and see your success with the Zaino's. I have the same Zaino kit for my car, as well, and I hope to do it in the coming week. Hope mine turns out as great as yours.

See ya,

You can find @ www.zainostore.com

I bought the total protection kit. Cost was about 125.00 or so. Pretty pricy but a little bit goes a long way and the results are fantastic.

Good luck.

I bought the same kit. I was advised to get a good glaze and wax for the final coat. Hattys was recomended.

Jesse Bolt, Did you have to throw away the clay bar when you finished? I read on the Zaino site that bar is good for several uses, but was the first cleaning bad enough to use up a bar?

Great job BTW, the shine is unbelievable. :beerchug:

You car turned out great  :D

I have been using Zanios awhile now myself I have been able to do a Sport Trac in about 2.5 hours. Thats one coat all around. It took alot longer the first time out to get everything prepped after that its been alot quicker for me. As for the clay bar I always look at it as I'm using it to make sure nothing is embedded in it to cause scratches. I kneed it in my hand till i get a clean surface exposed then I check it again after I finish a panel.

I plan on swapping Clay bars here soon the Zanio's bars I got are getting to gunky to keep using I'm probably going to get a Meguair's bar this time to try.

I found some good reading on these sites may be of use to somebody.

'lambbo', the clay bar looks good; like it's not used up or very dirty. I wrapped it up in plastic wrap and put it back in the container.

Now this is just me. I won't be using this clay bar on a painted surface again. The reason is the junk that was picked up off the glass. It's not worth the risk of those particles scratching the paint. I will use this clay bar exclusively for glass.
