Got My VIN!!

Thanks! I got the grabber blue/ white combo. I also got the HID's too. I originally had them taken off the order because of the supposed delay, but then I heard the hold was off and had them added back on and within about a week or more I had a VIN so looks like things are moving along.

What are the last digits of the VIN like? The GT500 that I got to play with this weekend down at Homestead had a VIN of the last six digits of 100100. I'm not sure if this was a pre-production car or an actual production.

I am waiting on my vin#, hope I get it soon. My dealer said he was unable to add HID lights. I ask him to recheck today and let me know. Maybe you guys could tell me shouldn't they be able to change the order if I do not have a vin# yet?

By the way I am new to the blog my name is Brian and I live on the MS. Gulf Coast. I have an 05 GT and ordered my Shelby GT500 Feb. 21st. Look forward to your replies. :headscratch:

Hey Chris, its Jeff (05FordGT), I didn't know you were on here too!! I only go by that screen name on TMS, as I didn't own a car then, and needed a name. Everywhere else I go by this name, 06VistaBlueGT. For those who don't know me from other forums, I'm the one who sold Zeindog his car. I work at a Ford dealer in Souteast PA for the past 12 years. I've been on The Mustang Source for almost 5 years. The car in my avatar, is my 2006 GT. I LOVE IT!!! I actually got a photo of it on the Shelby Wheels website. Its also in the newest issue (May 2009) of Mustang Enthusiast, in the readers rides section, page 29!!! Was also in July 2008 Mustang Monthly as well (issue with Carroll on cover). My car has made my life wonderful. After having a liver transplant in 2003, I learned about doing things now and not waiting for later. Later many never come!! So I got my car and have turned it into a "Shelby Tribute", but I DO NOT have ANYTHING that says Shelby on it, other than the wheels, as they are CS wheels, and Carroll's sig on the sunvisor!! About Chris's order? We did a little sweet talking with the new zone rep, and got Chris's car serialized ALOT earlier than she said we would. For the Philly region, no stock order GT500s will be serialized, but since his was a retail order, we got it done for him!!!!! I can't wait for it to arrive!!! It won't be too long now Chris. Don't worry, the wait will go by in a flash!!!!

Good to see you on here too Jeff!! I know its still going to be awhile but these couple days of spring like weather are making the wait seem even longer!

Hey Brian, as Jeff just mentioned he is the one taking care of my order. I orginally had the HID's on the order then took them off because of the delay, but then learned the hold was off so I had Jeff put them back on and the order took so I dont think your dealer should have a problem.

If your dealer has theDORA I don`t think they can change anything now.

That's not true. The DORA just shows the vehicle has been ordered. It won't show the progress. That's on teh progress sheet that is printed off every morning. An order can be changed at anytime, up until the order lists "bucked" on the printout sheet that shows all orders to Ford. Once this stage occurs, its too late to change anything. "Bucked" means they are getting all the parts to build the car in the next few days. Changes are unable to be made at this time. If your car is still "Clean/Unsche", it means its not going to be built yet, and changes can be made. Hope this helps.

Your right my dealer was unable to change my order. I did get my VIN# today hopefully, I will have ETA this week.

Are the HID lights just a diifferent bulb I could add my self or is it the complete headlight assembly?

You are allmost correct.

You can make changes up untill the order is "Serialized". Once that happens it gets a VIN and parts are allocated for the order.

"Bucked" means the car is on the line being built. It takes 24 hours to build a GT500. 2 shifts and it's done.

Thanks for the information. my dealer says that the plant would not allow the change request for the HID'S. This must mean its close to hitting the line :happy feet: . My salesman says he believes we will have an ETA this week. The wife and I are going to take a little vacation to Florida and Maybe to Myrtle Beach as soon as the car arrives :shift:

These are the steps and what they mean. Your dealer should be able to tell you what step your car is on if he reads his morning print out:

Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order

When the order is received from the dealers (You give the dealer a deposit and they put the order into the order bank.)

Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created

When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered

Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built

When they figure (roughly) that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle

Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built

When they figure the exact day that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle

Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day

When they figure the order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.

Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle

Your unit has been built!

Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping

Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)

Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant

Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer

Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle

Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy

Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle

You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

Thanks for the info bud, but I only said what I said, as I have made changes to a "serialized" order in the past several times with no issues.

No problem. I'm not trying to step on any toes, I just want folks to know that they need to figure out their order by doing research because changes can't allways happen.

I would think your dealer is right once I received my DORA they called to tell me the date it was to be built, which was only a few days after the DORa was received. Good Luck you must be getting excited.
