JeffIsHereToo
It's ok...this is a common problem to the Mustang in general. Some have had them covered and some not. My 05 had this issue bad and was not covered, my 07 SGT, hasn't had the issue. Take it into a dealer and see what the can do for you. Good luck! -Jeff

It really bothers me more than the hood scoop issue.. But even if I dont get the fix I guess I will just buy the 08 housing and install it and keep the old one put up for nostalgic reasons..... ilmor
Might has an almost unnoticable warp in it, but it is there, and I suspect that this warpage is an even greater problem in the southern states.

gtup1
What's the difference between the '07 and '08 housings? Just had mine completed. The 08 version does not have the old Mustang GT grill with driving lamp removed, it is just an outer bezel piece that the grill sits in. It is actually a cleaner install because you don't see the grill material behind the billet grill any longer.

2007_Shelby_GT
Mine was warped at the bottom, just like yours! I replaced it with the 08 surround and it looks just fine now, perfectly flat against the top of the bumper. Looking at it straight on from the front, you can definitely see more of what lies behind the grill, (due to missing chopped up 07 grill), but still looks great! By the way, this is a very easy "do it yourself" fix - snap out, snap in and your done! Sam AKA:

But even if I dont get the fix I guess I will just buy the 08 housing and install it and keep the old one put up for nostalgic reasons..... Mine was warped also. The 2007 is a cobbled up standard GT grille surround with the fog light holes cut out, the 2008 is an actual revised surround that apparently Shelby had tooled for the 2008 model year, my guess is they rushed the 2007 to market faster than they could properly tool up some of these special parts. the 2007 has fabbed up aluminum brackets to hold the billet grille in, the 2008 has actual mounting points for the grille. Your original billet grille will fit in either 2007 or 2008 surround. If you look through the grille with a flashlight you can check out the details yourself. The way 2007 looked, I was glad to get rid of it. Pretty rough. The 2008 was great. Your replacement part will be the 2008 part. The 2007 Shelby GT used the original GT grille that was removed, cut up and then reinstalled with the Shelby billet grille. Have your dealer file a claim with Shelby, mine was replaced under warranty a year ago. It bothered me as least as much as the warped scoop. The service mgr and I changed the thing out on a saturday morning in the write up area in 15 minutes. The billet grille was a tight fit in the new surround because the surround almost had to be forced into the proper position to get the attaching points to line up with the billet grille. I speculated that there must be quite a stack of variation between some of these parts. Some of these things seem to warp in the garage out of any sunlight, others seem ok even after a couple years in the sun, so go figure. Might be more than UV or heat damage, maybe heat and tension. The only thing to be careful about is to get the front fascia up to room temp prior to prying the grille surround tabs out of it. my $.02 . However, I'm gonna replace mine at some point because the new one just looks better.

My Shelby is warping and my wife's 06 Gt is perfect. My Shelby sits in the garage 99% of the time and her car is her DD. Hers is exposed the cold & heat all day while she's at work while mine is in the garage. Go figure....
2007_Shelby_GT
So what's the procedure for removing and installing? Quick and dirty: Note that the grill is attached to the surround and then the surround/grill combo is attached to the car! 1) Remove the six plastic rivets that hold the radiator cover on by gently prying the center piece up to release them, then pulling them out. This pic shows three of them: 2) The radiator cover should slip right off allowing you access to the blade/tabs that hold the grill surround (and thus the grill) in place. This pic shows one of the side tabs. Gentle prying with a covered screwdriver and pulling will pop these out. Start on one side and work your way across. This pic shows a couple of the blade/tabs down at the bottom of the grill surround. Once you've gotten all of the blade/tabs released, the grill and surround just falls right out! 3) Remove the grill from the old warped and cut-up surround, and bolt it onto the nice new straight, clean one! 4) Install in reverse! Pretty simple, eh? Sam AKA:

Sam AKA: nice write up and pictures. also may want to cover the fascia where the grill/surround slides over the top of the bumper, at least on the black cars, to keep the scratching down..
