so i had my sgt at the dealership to have the hood scoop replaced. the new one came in and was handled so roughly by ups that it cracked the paint. well my dealership gets the bright idea to repain the scoop.... i told them the paint was special it was not silver. they wouldnt listen. so now i have a silver hoodscoop that doesnt match my stripes.... they have contacted shelby and are going to try and get a scoop overnighted. i took my car back and wil ut it back in the shop when they get the scoop. they put the silver one on there and half the rivets arent flush :banghead::banghead:

I don't know why they couldn't have mixed the paint to match the stripes on the spot. I've yet to find a dealership that had an even halfway decent body shop.

If you got the newer stripes, the paint that comes on the new scoop doesn't match. The stripes are lighter and have more shine. I just had my scoop done and the paint had to be mixed to match. Also, have them paint the stripe on it and then clear coat. Then the scopp will match the stripes and look awesome!

I think I'm going to just buy the CS6 hood and send the stock hood to have signed. I've been hearing way to much heart ache over the scoop and I don't even have the car yet. So yeah my next big investment is definitely the CS6 hood.

You know, these scoops have been such a fiasco from the beginning I would be surprised if SAI didn't nix them from all cars from now on! Frankly I like the deep draw hood on the Terlingua....

I had that same idea- that deep draw hood would be awesome looking and functional, especially for the SC cars....we can only dream.....

Yep, seems that the folks that have gone in to have the replacements put on come out worse than before.

I'll just wait until I find a hood or hood scoop that I really like and then have a respectable body shop do it all at once.

+1

Is the Terlingua hood available to us or just the CS6 hood?

well its oing back over spring break. im going to supervize them while they put the new one on again. im a mechanic so if they do one thing wrong theyl have shoe laces coming out of their nose. the primary isssue i have is they dont seem to understand how rivets work. the question i have is are the new rivets rivnuts? or are they basicaly cherry max? i know for a fact theyr blind rivets but im not sure what kind. if anything i've probably driven more rivets then these machanics. i may end up doing them myself

I haven't see that at all. The issues from what I am reading are installation issues due to poor workmanship and/or inattention to detail.

The majority of people I've seen have said, when done by a decent shop, that they have had great success with the new stripes and scoop. I've posted pics mine, as have others, and it looks great! I had the car out yesterday and after almost three months it's still looking great!

Don't blame SAI for the poor work of a body shop that can't even match paint!

Demand to take it to a shop of your choice with you paying the difference above the warranty rate if any.

i may end up doing that. their rivet work is absolutly crappy. looks like they cut the blind reviets steams off cause they couldnt get them to breack at their weak point...so i have lethal weapons sticking out of my hood! come on some one piss me off i'll throw you at my car! :hysterical:

This is going to hurt, but I have to agree with Jeff on this one! J/K Jeff. Find a shop that knows what they are doing! I have had no problems with SAI nor the quality of the new scoop and it looks great! Proper installation is 90% of the job so don't trust it to just anyone. You say you may do it yourself and with you being a mechanic you should be able to do the job. Sometimes it is best to do things yourself simply because you care more about the end product. Hang in there and be persistant and it will work out with the right shop. OK JEFF, that's the last time I agree with you! HA  Craig

That's what I did - and I couldn't be happier about my "hood scoop"!

That is exactly what I am doing next spring when I have Auto Arts paint my car. I will just put the original in storage. Have to wait until next spring now as the wife found out how much a supercharger really costs :finger: Wow that woman is mad!!!

Kevin---the car looks awesome! Can't wait to go cruising with you when you get back down south.
